crustyngrizzly 1,700 Report post Posted August 26, 2014 Recently i read of a horse winning its fourth or fifth race being raced by it's breeder and some friends who had a racing only lease. Why on earth would you do this.Obviously the owner won't want the horse over raced and yet here are people racing a horse that will provide nothing to them after it has finished racing.Try telling your grand kids that you once owned a filly that won 5 races and that she left some good ones at stud. The breeder owner is the only person to benefit out of this type of arrangement. This is money for jam for the owner/breeder as he/she is only paying a portion of the training fees but will reap plenty at the sales. Irishbay 18 Report post Posted August 27, 2014 Yes but how many owners in that situation are prepared to buy into the true cost of what it has cost to breed and raise the horse before it goes to the races, In most cases it is the breeder who has coughed up the time and money to supply the horse flesh? Dopey 214 Report post Posted August 27, 2014 Some owners in Australia just want a horse to race without the overhead or commitment to breed after.
