Turny 1,224 Report post Posted July 22, 2014 Winter racing is interesting - wet tracks and the 4Kg and 3Kg claimers often get "extra rides" on the wet tracks at the expense of the experienced riders who enjoy the warmth of the Jocks room. NGH on Wiesmuller (at his very brilliant best against 3 claimers) CWJ two wins at Taranaki (Classic cool hands and heels riding with exceptional balance & timing) Walshy and the outside fence at Trentham on Steeples Day (Daring to be different and bold) then we have Bradley, Hannam and a few others. These older guys certainly hold their own without weight relief So what do Cafers think - weight relief or experience........................... sunlineboy 131 Report post Posted July 22, 2014 Weight relief but would rather they actually rode the horse, as opposed to just sitting on it like a dead weight.
joseph 5 Report post Posted July 22, 2014 Totally depends on the horse, some of them you only have to sit and steer so weight relief is a good idea, trickier types need the seniors otherwise they would try every trick in the book. Most free running front runners are good claimers horses IMO. puha, Aaron Bidlake and von Smallhaussen
