morayfm 28 Report post Posted June 17, 2014 A question please for the Breeding experts. Do you think that with Shamexpress's great-damsire being Sir T, then the 5m x 3m Sir T duplication with Kaapstad mares is too close? I'm not sure that male duplications of Sir T have been very successful in the past?
morayfm 28 Report post Posted June 17, 2014 Actually, sorry, it's great, great-damsire, but still 5m x 3m for a cross with a Kaapstad mare.
Breeder 608 Report post Posted June 18, 2014 Ok morayfm I'll have a go since no one has answered you. I think it would be worth a try. Sir T crosses like 3 x 3 have been tried a bit. I'm not sure that it has been that successful ( I don't have the stats). But having Sir T a little further back in the pedigree might be better. But with the cross you are talking about here are also other good things appearing. For example, I am a fan of crosses of similarly bred horses ( not just straight crosses of a particular good horse) -- look at Irish Lass ( in Last Tycoon) and Baby Doll ( dam of Pieces of Eight)
morayfm 28 Report post Posted June 18, 2014 Thanks Breeder. I tend to agree with what you have said. Also, my mare would provide a 6m,7f x 5f,6f cross to Round Table who I really like in pedigrees.
Lloyd Vivian 742 Report post Posted June 18, 2014 You're right there Moray! Can't have too much Round Table. For my money, one of the best racehorses and sires ever..
Tapu 48 Report post Posted June 20, 2014 Hi Breeder - try Bounty Rose (dam of Damaipuri who ran a fantastic race in R1 at Kranji on 15th) or her daughter Kingsley Rose.
