Goodlobster 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2009 It seems The Minor Premieres form slump in losing 5 of their last 6 games has cost them test spots. Not one Dragon named in the Kangaroo's, No Weymen, Poore, Creagh or Morris. They definitely haven't selected specialist wingers....5 players who played centre for the year and 2 fullbacks.... We in NZ know what happens when you put players into the team that aren't specialists in their position (I mean Cullen and McDonald in the other code). Heres the team The Australian squad has been named for the Four Nations rugby league tournament in Europe: Petero Civoniceva (Penrith), Cooper Cronk (Melbourne), Robbie Farah (Wests Tigers), Israel Folau (Brisbane), Paul Gallen (Cronulla), Kurt Gidley (Newcastle), Ben Hannant (Bulldogs), Jarryd Hayne (Parramatta), Nathan Hindmarsh (Parramatta), Justin Hodges (Brisbane), Ryan Hoffman (Melbourne), Greg Inglis (Melbourne), Michael Jennings (Penrith), Darren Lockyer (capt, Brisbane), Luke Lewis (Penrith), Josh Morris (Bulldogs), David Shillington (Canberra), Billy Slater (Melbourne), Cameron Smith (Melbourne), Sam Thaiday (Brisbane), Johnathan Thurston (North Queensland), Trent Waterhouse (Penrith), Anthony Watmough (Manly), Brett White (Melbourne). sunlineboy 131 Report post Posted October 7, 2009 Morris is a catching finisher.. he doesnt create tries like the others do... Good choice.
Goodlobster 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2009 Morris is a catching finisher.. he doesnt create tries like the others do... Good choice. Trying to play centres as wingers could be a mistake. And Morris a catching finisher ? ? A few of the times he caught and finished this year was from inside The Dragons 20....including against The Warriors...nothing wrong with genuine finishing wingers on the end of a good backline. If The Kiwi's were full strength I would fancy us against this team. Jezza
Cat 25 Report post Posted October 7, 2009 If The Kiwi's were full strength I would fancy us against this team. Jezza Jezza Jezza Jezza,I love your blind faith and loyalty, but seriously, what makes you think we have a shot at beating the Aussies? Since 2000 we have played these guys 19 times for just 3 wins.Included in those losses have been 3 50 point hidings, the last as recently as 2007. Considering we are supposedly the 2nd best International League side in the world, those are pretty disturbing facts. I'll be hoping and praying, but no way in the world would I say publicly we will win.If I had to put my life on it I'd say Aussie by 22 next time, and thats being optimistic. But I do think we will beat Tonga...I'm just interested to see whether more than 800 people will be bothered to turn up.I'm sure Richy Rich will be there.... Goodlobster 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2009 They have the better backline Cat...no arguments But if we had of had Mannering, Asotasi and Jeremy Smith in the forwards with the likes of MoiMoi, Lima and Adam Blair you would have to think that we would get our fair share of ball... Then if Foran and Marshall could have got quality ball to Vatuvei (we will miss him) Soliola, Locke and Matai surely we would have had to have been in with a chance to tip them over again.... They are going to have backs playing out of position and they won't be the well oiled team that have given us the "hidings" in the past... I'm picking it to be close, but the injuries to the Kiwi players mean I think Kangaroo's by ten....BUT I wish we were full strength
