Commentators can be paid rather well but it's like anything, if you enjoy it you will probably do well and stick at it.

Ligerzero 34 Report post Posted August 27, 2013 Not being rude...but not my cup of tea. Speaking of...really enjoying Johnny Brights calls at Manukau and Cambridge! Thanks for your feedback; I aim to work hard and continue trying, knowing I that I won’t magically become a pro after ONE call. As a point of interest, what exactly did you not like? I will definitely take your criticism on-board and believe I can use it positively to greatly improve! Cheers. hedley
Ashoka 1,179 Report post Posted August 27, 2013 Ligerzero... I think that you call is very good indeed. I admire your courage in making the recording and making it public. I hope you take your passion for commentating further as you clearly have the attributes required. All the best. Gruff 2,800 Report post Posted August 28, 2013 nice, generally pretty good effort,i liked the even tempo and flow, with some fine tuning you can only improve.i think starting off you need to stick to the stock standard descriptions ,for mine "done the business" didn't work.is their anyone in particular you have moulded your style on?...calling the dogs in the right order is obviously first priority but to stand out above others(and this includes the majority of callers today)the listener has to be able to build a picture of the race in their minds...big ask I know particularly over the sprints.....next time you post a call see if you can do it over the video if possible...keep up the good work
nek minute 296 Report post Posted August 28, 2013 great effort mate nice and clear you were a bit flat but i supose that will improve with time
Tailedoff 38 Report post Posted August 28, 2013 That was very good. Actually it was excellent. You were able to get through all the dogs very quickly. My personal wish is for dog commentators to only call the first 4 or 5 dogs at any time. Would get through them all twice before the finish of a sprint race.
