Uriah Heap 481 Report post Posted August 4, 2013 All hail to The Chiefs. Worthy champions I believe. Sure they had those vital last two games at home, but that's what you earn week in and week out during the season. They earned that right. Their real strong point is they have players with character. "True Grit". Plus they have the best coaching staff in the comp. Next year will be the year of the Hurricanes.

Your last comment I think every year though not publicly ......but you could be right in 2014 ha!
Uriah Heap 481 Report post Posted August 5, 2013 No I've decided next year is the "Year of the Canes". I won't be dissuaded. You might argue that The Canes haven't got the manpower, but look at that Chiefs line up. Man for man the Canes aren't inferior to the Chiefs. The Chiefs weren't stacked full of All Blacks. Three years ago Craig Clark was little more than a good NPC player. The Chiefs backline on Saturday night was full of journeymen. So what is it? I'll tell you what it is - That Dave Rennie has done it once too often, with teams at various levels, for it to be a fluke. When it comes to organising a team, instilling self belief, picking out the right leaders, motivating the team, etc etc - he has got the X factor in spades. Just look at the fantastic job he did with the Turbos. But the Hurricanes don't have a gun coaching set up to turn their under-performing mob around. Of course, they could had had Rennie as coach had they not been so nonsensical.
