Gruff 2,778 Report post Posted May 19, 2013 we have seen week after week track conditions stated incorrectly and now we see te rapa race through an entire programme with a heavy 10 rating which was never upgraded after early signs suggested otherwise,.Mark du plessis stated the track was very heavy after an early interview yet they posted a sub 1.25 open1400.Some suggest its the nature of the te rapa track?...so a heavy 10 at te rapa rates around a dead 6 to soft 7 at trentham?its confusing enough already ..... do we need to start adding letters for loose or puggy so when the study is being done we wont be lead down the garden path....those who punted I am sam and high kin due to the heavy 10 description need to pay a little more attention before investing their hard earned..get on next time...depending on the track rating of course
Pukemoe 22 Report post Posted May 20, 2013 It is also hard from a trainers perspective, you may have a horse that is suited to a genuine 7-8, the track is rated 7-8 you race and the track is clearly not close to the rating, is this a case of tell the owners and trainers what they want to hear on race morning to get the numbers racing???? not only is it unfair to the punters but also the trainers, owners and most importantly the horses......it is a gamble as to what the track is going to be on raceday, personally find it hard to trust the penetrometer reading.
