If my reading of the rules is correct, you get an extra 3 points if your best bet finishes in the first three. No difference if it runs 1st, 2nd or 3rd. So under that rule, why haven't more people picked a best bet in the 5 horse field - race 3??

I know, having said this, that my pick in race 3 will probably finish 4th or 5th but I stand by my theory.
