Deans v Cooper

Recommended Posts

The Wannabee Wallaby commonly known as 'Dingo Deans' has peeved a number of people off across the Tasman, with his refusal to select Quade Cooper in his 30 man squad to prepare for the upcoming Lions tour.

Cooper and Deans have not seen eye to eye at all over the last few years and matters were made worst when Cooper described the Wallaby environment under Deans as "toxic."

His performance against the Chiefs last Saturday afternoon underlined the fact that he is without doubt the best #10 in Australian rugby, and Deans is mistaken for not including him. But Robbie Deans is a dictator and its his way or the highway.

Former Wallaby and now rugby commentator Greg Martin went as far as to say that it was all a New Zealand conspiracy in the first place to allow Deans to apply for the Australian job. Martin seems to think that 'Dingo Deans' was put in place to sabotage Australian rugby, and 10 straight losses to the All Blacks, embarrassing losses to Samoa and Scotland and a semi final exit at the World Cup would ignite the theory, albeit a very preposterous one :P

The fact remains, the NZRU made a very inspired decision to reinstall Graham Henry and let Robbie Deans go. Otherwise we may have been left with the "toxic" environment on our doorsteps.

Cooper has that bit of x-factor about him, clearly the best 5/8 in Aus, somedays rocks, other days diamonds,

Deans has been a dead man walking for sometime now a nail away from closing the coffin, then somehow pulls out a result, the draw at Suncorp for one, win over England another, much to the dislike of Martin and Campese, David Campese quoted as saying "I wouldn't mind England winning".

People usually gain respect for admitting they're wrong, or burying the hatchett so to speak, but for Deans this would be a pill to hard to swallow, Cooper said the wrong thing calling it a toxic enviroment, but all of this should be done and dusted, and QC should have been selected in the 30 man squad.

Who's this bloke Falou selected in the 30 man squad, never heard off him.

Prediction, love making one :(  Israel Falou, signed a one year contract with Union in the view of returning to the NRL with Parramatta, Increased salary cap in 2014, Falou to Fullback Hayne to 5/8, this not to eventuate, Falou too sign on with Union, and chase the dream off winning a real WC. (I didn't say that)

On the flip side Cooper and Beale to try their hand at the NRL

The thing is with Quade Cooper is, he may have been raised in Tokoroa, but he brings everything we expect on the Aussies at Rugby.

On his day he can exude confidence and turn on the razzle-dazzle like no other, He's brash and opinionated.

On another day he's awful. Easily rattled, poor basic skills, his game falls apart, bottom lip drops noticably and you wonder how he ever became a Test player.

The problem for oppositions, is they're never sure which Cooper/Australia are going to turn up on the day.

This sort of player/team doesn't suit a man such as Robbie Deans. He's a Canterbury farmer and they like things far more balanced and predictable down that way. The Aussie - Deans marriage was doomed to fail from the beginning.
