Seymour has been discharged from hospital after escaping serious injury when his BMW hit two parked cars then flipped on to its roof. His wife, Roseanne, has claimed that he was suffering from depression and told a Facebook group created to wish her husband a speedy recovery: "I'm suffering from severe shock that my husband was so desperate and could attempt such a horrific thing. "He is getting the help he needs and your support has helped greatly. Depression is a silent killer - I want each and every one of you to know that we feel so grateful to you." The 28-year-old Seymour has been given leave by Hull and the couple are believed to have left the city to go on a break and begin the process of trying to get Seymour's life back in order. Seymour has already had counselling and has been visited by a number of Hull players. Hull coach Peter Gentle said he was stunned to hear the news about Seymour. "I've heard about Roseanne's comments but I'm not here to give answers to them," he said. "We are a tight group and when one of our players is injured or has problems, it affects everyone. We genuinely care about each other. "We had reports coming through and there was rumour and speculation but some of the things we heard were a mile off what happened. "We were able to keep the players informed as a group that Brett had been in an accident but was OK. All the players got round to see him and will continue to support him." Gentle would like to see Seymour back on the field again, but accepts that it will be his decision about where he wants to go with his life. "His health and well-being is paramount to the club. We are just there to give him plenty of support." Photograph: Gareth Copley/Getty Images Brett Seymour, an Australian scrum-half whose unhappy stint with Hull culminated in him crashing his BMW into two parked cars this month, has been booked into the Sporting Chance clinic to tackle his depression. Seymour, a 28-year-old Queenslander with a chequered past, joined Hull from the New Zealand Warriors ahead of the 2011 season. He was taken to hospital after the incident on 3 March, which came after he had been heavily criticised for his performance in a defeat by Widnes the previous night. Hull have placed him on indefinite leave and his wife, Roseanne, has revealed on Facebook that he has been receiving help from Sporting Chance, the organisation founded by the former Arsenal footballer Tony Adams to offer counselling and treatment to sportsmen and women who are struggling to cope. Humberside police are investigating the circumstances leading to the crash. "Brett has been getting the help he needs through a wonderful organisation called Sporting Chance and will be entering a 21-day rehabilitation clinic for his depression with them in April," she wrote. "I pray that everyone who suffers this dark illness finds light and happiness." Seymour has been sacked by two Australian clubs, Brisbane Broncos and Cronulla Sharks, for alcohol-related incidents and was banned from driving for seven months by New Zealand police after being convicted of drink-driving and failing to stop for police in November 2011, shortly before joining Hull. Bobbie Goulding, the former Great Britain scrum-half, recently revealed that he also turned to Sporting Chance due to problems with alcohol and cocaine after the end of his playing career. St Helens have confirmed that James Roby will be out for at least a month with the ankle injury he suffered in Friday's victory over Wakefield, meaning the England hooker will miss the Good Friday derby at Wigan.
