jess 1,244 Report post Posted February 11, 2010 Anyone heard any word on whether he will be back in NZ for the 2010 breeding season? I guess if we're lucky enough for the answer for that to be "yes" - the second question is "how much?"

jess 1,244 Report post Posted March 25, 2010 I am also hearing he will be back in NZ this year. The fee I've heard round the traps is substantial (more than your guess, Theysay). Certainly well out of my league now. Will await the official announcement with interest

Baz (NZ) 1,722 Report post Posted March 27, 2010 Has been reported today High Chaparral will not stand another season at Windsor Park Stud in Cambridge New Zealand. Can this be confirmed? Why change a winning formula???
Hunterville 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2010 Yeah sounded as though he was all set to stand at Windsor Park but maybe Shoot Out winning that Group 1 a few weeks ago in Sydney made Coolmore change their mind.
foxy 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2010 It is with great excitement that Coolmore Australia introduces new to their roster for the 2010 Australasian breeding season - High Chaparral (IRE), sire of Australian Group One winners So You Think, Monaco Consul and Shoot Out. The handsome son of Sadler's Wells is set to shuttle to Australia for the coming season and his arrival is sure to be met with delight by Australasian breeders. High Chaparral (pictured) numbers three individual G1 winners, Monaco Consul, So You Think and Shoot Out amongst the best representatives from his first Southern Hemisphere three year old crop. It is of course a remarkable effort for any stallion to produce three individual G1 winning three year olds from his first crop over the course of a whole season, let alone with over three months of stakes racing still remaining on the calendar. But that said, High Chaparral was rarely anything short of a remarkable performer during the course of his racing career, claiming six G1's from two to four years, so it should probably come as no surprise that he has developed into a quite remarkable stallion. Indeed the fact that he is the leading sire of three year olds in Australia/New Zealand by prizemoney this season is testament to his ability as a stallion, particularly when you consider that his closest pursuer is none other than Fastnet Rock, the heir apparent to Danehill. "What he has achieved in such a short space of time in the Southern Hemisphere is incredible," extolled Coolmore Australia General Manger, Michael Kirwan. "Not only is he the sire of the highest rated three year old in Australasia in the shape of So You Think, but he is also the sire of G1 winners Monaco Consul and Shoot Out, meaning that he has sired three of the top eight three year olds in Australia this season. "Such success for a young stallion almost defies belief, particularly when you consider the calibre of races being won by his progeny, the G1 Cox Plate, the G1 VRC Derby, the G1 Randwick Guineas - these are amongst the best races on the Australasian racing calendar. He is a sensational stallion and I am delighted to offer him to Australasian breeders for next season." High Chaparral has until now been shuttling to Windsor Park Stud in New Zealand. "Nelson and Roddy Schick and their team at Windsor Park Stud did a fantastic job with High Chaparral during his time in New Zealand and his time there has laid a foundation for him to feature amongst the leading sires in Australasia for years to come," Kirwan explained. "With his addition to the roster at Coolmore Australia, what has always been an impressive collection of horses, has grown even more formidable, offering Australasian breeders a range of proven quality sires unmatched in the Southern Hemisphere." High Chaparral is also the sire of a number of other quality performers from his first southern hemisphere crop including the highly regarded Gai Waterhouse trained gelding Descarado, placed in the G2 Phar Lap Stakes on his most recent start on his way to the G1 Australian Derby, as well as dual Listed winning filly Chaparella. gaze 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 What will Coolmore offer Windsor Park this coming breeding season? Hurricane Run Yeats Rip Van Winkle Fame and Glory Age Of Aquarius Or will they be offered a stallion that has stood in Australia. Maybe a stallion from Ashford Stud in the US. There might be one in this years Ballydoyle three year olds ready to go to stud when it doesn't win the Guineas, with a minor career ending injury. I hope Windsor Park are well looked after as they appear to make stallions for Coolmore.

gaze 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 No ideas on which 2 new stallions are coming to Windsor Park? Right won't be Duke of Marmalade. Could be Mastercraftsmen? Middle distance stallion with speed and a sprinter. Coolmore have provided stallions to Windsor Park in the past, one of the new stallions will probably be a Coolmore stallion. No doubt will be announced next week at the Sydney Easter Sale.

pepawish 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2010 at Windsor, was in the waikato times, have been checking him and he seems quite exciting really, has a nice dam side with his dam leaving a few winners, shame about High Chaparral though. He would have come back at big price but will probably stand for quite a bit in Oz. Out of our reach for now.
justathought 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2010 Fantastic achievement to sire the Trifecta in the AJC Derby. Sure a great loss that he's not coming back, but how lucky to have had access in the first place? He served a good number of mares here this season at a service fee that should now be considered very very good value. Best of luck to those with progeny or mares in foal. Hunterville 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2010 Yeah huge achievement for the horse. Looks like he will be the next Zabeel. Tauhei Notts 1,413 Report post Posted April 10, 2010 A stallion trifecta in a Group One race; I remember Sir Tristram in the 1986 N.Z. Oaks. Now High Chapparal in the 2010 A.J.C. Derby. Do Racecafers recall any othe similar achievements?
Tauhei Notts 1,413 Report post Posted April 11, 2010 I doubt whether a Pakistan II horse ever won the Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes. They won almost every other race but not the Sires at Awapuni.
