The Broncos had 4 players involved in the origin this year, that's all.

In 1998 they had 12 players involved in the series, in 2000 they had 8 involved in the series, yet they won the comp both years.

Using origin as an excuse for this years performance is drawing a long bow, even for you Gruff.

......im not comparing this side to any of lockyers teams? chalk and cheese..lockyers presence in this side has them in the top 5 without doubt.... the fact of the matter is their BEST players were out...you take the best four out of the warriors and all hell would break loose...origin and any representative commitment takes its toll,no warrior is good enough for state of origin full stop!..........4 players that's all ! hahahahahahahahaha...those four would of turned the babies drubbing into a tidy win

Gillett, Hannant, Thaiday and Parker are hardly world beaters. Solid players but they aren't going to win anyone a championship. Not the type of players you would build a team around like the Storm have with Smith, Cronk and Slater.

You're very quick to put the boot into the Warriors, yet your Broncos are a terrible mob and had their worst ever season. Worst ever! Yet they are getting so used to being rubbish there was no thought of sacking the coach!

The Broncos missed a couple of players over Origin, but so did the Storm and I don't see them use it as an excuse ever. When you think about it, for 23 of the 26 rounds the Broncos have supposed superior players (origin players) playing for them that other teams don't. Yet for 23 rounds they are still as rubbish as they were over the Origin period.

Stop looking for excuses. If it's not the refs, it's the schedule. What next?......the storm have more depth?the broncos bench are mud and were exploited all year.....rubbish?the players in question are forwards, and bloody good ones at that..direction and mistakes in the backline was their biggest bugbear....and the refs without doubt, the commentators even pointed out their failings and you still didn't pick up on it?...is it smokey in your lounge?

I think you're the one on the hooch Gruff.

So many conspiracy theories! The refs make mistakes but they even out during a game. Over the course of a season, the cream rises to the top, just as it has this season. Blaming the ref for your sides predicament is very defensive to say the least. I can't stand it when Warriors fans blame the ref, so for a Broncos supporter to do it defies belief.

And if you listen to commentators you need your head read. You've probably been listening to that biased Ray Hadley idiot for too long.

NYC FINALS: Vodafone Junior Warriors 20, Souths 18

The Vodafone Junior Warriors completed a remarkable six-day turnaround to stay alive in the NYC finals with a courageous 20-18 win over South Sydney in tonight’s NYC elimination final at ANZ Stadium.

The 2010-2011 premiers hadn’t been in their best shape heading into the finals, losing three of their last four matches including a humiliating 4-48 defeat by St George Illawarra just six days ago.

From being inside the competition’s top four they slipped to finish the regular season in sixth spot although still standing alone as the only club to have made the finals in each of the NYC’s six seasons in existence.

If they faced a challenge to advance beyond week one in this year’s title hunt the mission seemed to become even more difficult when they conceded two tries inside the last nine minutes of the first half to trail 4-14 at the break.

They’d scored first when fullback David Fusitua expertly latched onto a Mason Lino bomb for a sixth-minute try but Souths then put on a run of 14 points without reply.

The second half mirrored the arm wrestles the Vodafone Junior Warriors had endured recently – without winning – against the likes of Canberra and Penrith. Boosted by the return of some of their more experienced campaigners, they gradually began to impose themselves through tightening up both their ball control and their defence. They were also able to gain an edge in possession with 22 sets in the second half (completing 18 of them) while the Rabbitohs had only 16 sets.

While they boasted only one line break all night, they allowed South Sydney none in the second half and forced their opponents to make close to 90 more tackles.

It helped them to bite back into the contest and gradually to translate it into a difference on the scoreboard, first Tuimoala Lolohea showing off his footwork for his 18th try of the season in the 52nd minute and right winger Metia Lisati levelling it up at 14-14 eight minutes later.

It remained that way for only seven minutes when the Vodafone Junior Warriors gifted Christian Hazard a try wide out after some chaotic work trying to cover a kick. The conversion missed but Souths had an 18-14 lead.

The Vodafone Junior Warriors had just 13 minutes left to save their season and they found relief in the 72nd minute through Adam Tuimvave-Gerrard when he hunted down a deft Lolohea grubber with Lino converting impressively to give his side a 20-18 lead.

There was the strongest sense listening to the television commentators that their preference was for South Sydney to steal the result in the closing minutes. They certainly willed the Rabbitohs to come through; alas for them the Vodafone Junior Warriors hung in and came away with their first play-off victory since winning the premiership in 2011 (they lost both finals matches last year).

A strong point was their overall completion rate of 31 of 40 sets in possession – helped by a 9-6 penalty count in their favour – and some solid contributions from a number of individuals.

Fusitua was prominent throughout, carrying the ball 244 metres from 19 runs while props Albert Vete (131), James Taylor (128) and Sam Lisone (127) all gained more than 100 metres as well. David Bhana and Michael Sio were the defensive rocks with 36 and 34 tackles.

The Vodafone Junior Warriors’ record in 13 finals matches is now 9-4. This latest win leaves them in line to play the losers of the tomorrow’s qualifying final between second-placed Penrith and the third-placed Sydney Roosters.
Match details:

(6) Vodafone Junior Warriors 20 (David Fusitua, Tuimoala Lolohea, Metia Lisati, Adam Tuimavave-Gerrard tries; Mason Lino 2 conversions).
(7) South Sydney Rabbitohs 18 (Siosaia Tanginoa, Aaron Gray, Ofa Felila, Christian Hazard tries; Aaron Gray conversion).
Halftime: 14-4 Rabbitohs.
Referees: Dave Munro and Matt Noyen.

Vodafone Junior Warriors: David Fusitua; Metia Lisati, Ngataua Hukatai, Adam Tuimavave-Gerrard, Lafu Feagaiga; Tuimoala Lolohea, Mason Lino; Albert Vete, Michael Sio, James Taylor; Raymond Faitala-Mariner, Stedman Lefau; David Bhana ©. Interchange: Eko Malu, Sam Lisone, Kouma Samson, Solomone Kata.

Congrats to the junior Warriors defeating Sth Sydney, they live to fight another day.

now for the big one go the Rabbits

your dreaming...the broncos had the entire second half of the penrith game fighting the ref,and penalty counts evening out?your joking, the position on the field and situation makes a huge difference in the outcome.....tonights souths farce is a typical example, two disallowed tries and one from upstairs that had the storm 2 back with momentum...hayne calling a no try when neither he or side line ump was in position to make such a call, the defenders arm was clearly outside of waqas so the ball must of touched the ground,,widdop called offside after souths knocked on on their line.....these cheats are controlling the game....souths are a bunch of cheats and without ref help cant win the final.......refs make mistakes!hahahahahahahaha..not regularly against the same sides, and how do you make mistakes upstairs?impossible .

FFS Gruffy give it a rest. How the hell can you enjoy a game of footie with this "fixation you have with ref's?

Just enjoy the finals....that was a good game last night. Either of those 2 will do me to take out the comp from

a punting perspective :) Warrior U20's bumbled their way to victory yesterday(been doing that most the season to be fair)

so are still in with a chance. Have a vested interest in their fortunes as well as the Panther young guns (with the Storm/Bunnies) who play this arvo.

Golf's been good this morning....Furyks on fire.....Scott, Stricker and Speith were my picks....thereabouts but the 1st 2 are pulling away a bit.

No chance.

Grumpy Gruff is not happy unless he's whinging or whining about something or someone.

Gooo the Doggies, watch out if they happen to win, he will be blaming everyone right down to the ticket sellers for that result.

Souths were far superior.

As Von said, the Storm are the weakest of the top 4 teams.

....im far from being a grumpy,i will ALWAYS 'whine and whinge" if there is not a level playing field,i detest cheats and unfairness.....try on the 7th tackle tonight?...I never gave the cowboys a chance to win this game but they were robbed,in saying that the refs let this game flow and it was one of the best games of league ive seen all year.sharks are the real deal, michael Gordon is a freak

.....................I don't enjoy games reffed by the chump Shayne hayne zig,the guys an egotistical maniac, hes also responsible for some of the worst calls this year.....the warriors u20s may of bungled their way to a victory but they got there and showed a great will to win ,the main side got to the finals with a similar scenario so anythings possible........I had furyk to beat woodland and dufner in first round three ball at the end of a multi for 600...+1...then goes out and holes them from everywhere,90 m for eagle?to back up 59 on a course where mcilroy and west wood were shooting 77,80 is unheard of,zac looks dangerous at 8-1 but snedeker looks home, his putter will stick for 4 rounds.....joost luiten 10-1 looks ok,jimenez is playing with the super talented but erratic larrazabal and I don't think hes ever been beaten head to head by a fellow Spaniard so will be interesting,i like david howell,he beat tiger woods in china when in peak power but injury has dogged him for years,ko close up in france at -3, miya -6 has won in france before so will be interesting to see if she can finish it off

Sharks in 7th heaven............No excuses for chicken legs, now if he was in charge of the Roosters Manly game     I could possibly make an excuse for Cecchin, he probably got a glimpse of Pearce's arse, but the Sharks Cowboys game was played in daylight, and there was no full moon out then.

Anyway onto the Dogs Knights, Barba to fullback, Morris to the Centres Pritchard in Eastwood in, IN OUT :P  Inu out dropped :o
