Pushbutton_auto 44 Report post Posted January 26, 2013 What a f joke ... after Coat d R and also that one at Auckland where the horse left the jockey hanging on the gate, a horse that was hardly hampered, sprinting to the front and finishing FIFTH, gets scratched ....... mr dickson cider 104 Report post Posted January 26, 2013 A complete CRAP ruling I backed ASAVANT and it lost nothing by the gate being slow out, still made the front easily , feel sorry for the Calders missing 5th money. The club should pay the stake in goodwill caused by their shoddy gates. napier 339 Report post Posted January 26, 2013 Totally agree mr dickson cider....was always going to go to the front and did nothing to get there. There have been a lot more cases where a horse was slow to begin and nothing has happened...feel sorry for all the connections concerned. Officials were talking that way last night. I think that it will certainly happen.
Pushbutton_auto 44 Report post Posted January 27, 2013 Surely that leads to even more dispute, give the losing punters their money back, but then pay the connections the prize money ? This sort of incident (at the gates) and the quickness of some decisions, without apparently ANY comeback for the owners or trainers and definitely none for the punter is absurd. Do the trainers get a chance to see the review of the incident with the stipes and or comment ?
napier 339 Report post Posted January 27, 2013 Dont know why the punters are unhappy...they got their money back and in my opinion should not have. Horse had every opportunity and the the only ones to miss out were the connections of the horse - the most important ones i might add. Very simple. Scotch Thistle 133 Report post Posted January 27, 2013 Imagine the stink had Asavant won, or been placed in a dividend-paying position, and her backers were merely given their wagers back. Would have been appropriate for the punters to pull the stalls apart and insert components up the jacksies of the committee members. mr dickson cider 104 Report post Posted January 27, 2013 If Asavant had run in a dividend paying place 1st to 4th (for 1st four punters) then it would not have been late scratched And they wonder why they struggle to get owners into racing, these owners say goodbye to $4,750 Des Coppins & co put some money into some Simtrak starting gates. If the West Coast can afford them surely you so called "CHAMPAGNE TURF" guys can
