Mrs Paddy 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2010 Listen, you Pommie gxx, when you do another outside broadcast at Trentham, put Timtan in a bubble so that we can hear him. The on course sound system at the track is verrrrrrrrrrry distracting and we, the punter, have a major problem hearing what is being said. jess 1,244 Report post Posted January 23, 2010 the background noise was pretty intrusive at times - maybe the producers thought it was good "atmos" However you say you had a problem with it drowning out Timtan? Heck - that was a blessed relief I thought! - we usually have the tv on mute when it's his turn anyway. Talk about verbal diarrhoea! There was a minor crisis earlier in the afternoon when the batteries in the remote went flat and we couldn't shut the wee rascal up - but the situation was soon rectified and normal transmission resumed
Properispomenon 1 Report post Posted January 23, 2010 maybe the producers thought it was good "atmos" However you say you had a problem with it drowning out Timtan? Jess, I'm not sure the producers you refer to know how to think. I watched One News last night. Haiti. And the problems of getting aid to those who need it. Presenter: Here's ABC reporter Mr X live. Mr X, is aid getting through? Mr X (after 20 seconds) and speaking with one hand cupped over the ear that is filled by his mirophone link to the studio: I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you. Can you repeat your question? Mr X is outside and at an airport and, as often happens at airports, there is an aircraft there gunning its engines as it prepares for, I dunno, taking off, I guess. We learned nothing from his on-site report that we couldn't have heard 20 seconds earlier had he been somewhere less noisy... The same happens at sports events. I've noticed Netball is particularly bad in this respect. Presenter: Here's reporter Ms Y live. Sounds like a noisy crowd you have there, Ms Y. Ms Y (after 20 seconds). I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you. Can you repeat your question? We learn nothing from her on-site report that we'd hear 20 seconds earlier had she been somewhere less noisy... And whenever there's an on-site report that isn't spoilt by noise it is invariably spoilt by the sight of zillions of kids (hell, some of them are adults) behind the interviewer waving maniacally like primary school children in a Nativity play... :\
