I'm currently in Phuket and will listen to TAB audio. Hope fixed odds are attractive? See TAB have yet to post odds in one of the best fields assembeled this season so far. Peter Jenkins 2,120 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Fair Account Bert takes over the Trivia King mantle ! Fair Account won the NZ Derby at Riccarton beating Raidan at the NZ Cup meeting in 1966. He was by Comte de Grasse (who stood at Amberley) who was a son of the 1943 USA Triple Crown winner Count Fleet. Comte de Grasse was not a major success and his only other runners of note were the mudlark Free Pass who won a CJC Winter Cup, a Taumarunui Gold Cup and a Cornwall Handicap; the Foley Memorial and Whakatane Cup winner Honourbright; the handy Triple Shot who was placed in the Manawatu Sires (behind Gold Braid) and the Foxbridge Plate (to Bardall); and the smart hurdler Royal Fleet. His is not a name you see much in pedigrees nowadays although a recent winner carrying his blood would be Allan Sharrock's Pukekura Raceway track specialist Hakuna Matata. dakuantankid 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2009 I might be wrong but I am pretty sure that Comte de Grasse stood at Noel Taylors property in East Tamaki at one stage (circa early 1960's).
Peter Jenkins 2,120 Report post Posted October 17, 2009 I think he stood in a few locations, possibly even the Hawkes Bay but i could be wrong. He probably ended up in Amberley
