chiknsmack 490 Report post Posted October 5, 2012 Two heats of the Group 3 Sydney Cup will be run on Saturday, with kiwi interest in both. Know Peace runs in the first heat (the strong one) against Irma Bale, He Knows Uno, Bellhaven and Hot Buzzard. At least he'll jump from the 8, which'll be some help (and he'll need some help to qualify against that lot). Platinum Playboy on the other hand is in the weak heat against not much of note. He's drawn 2 in a field of 7. The first heat has 5 dogs who have run sub-42.50, while the second heat only has two. (At least) One very good dog will miss the final from heat 1, while the four qualifiers from that heat will go close to being the first four home in the final. Heat 1 goes at 00:12 (twelve after midnight) Sunday morning, while heat 2 is 25 minutes later.

howrude 108 Report post Posted October 6, 2012 Never saw Know Peaces run... Expect a better run from Platinum Playboy should he contest the final. Wasn't overly fast out of the boxes, settled just off the pace racing 2nd the entire stay until the home bend when he just gave in. Should he had jumped, I think he would've finished 2nd, even the prize. Was a huge run. Good luck to the connections.
chiknsmack 490 Report post Posted October 7, 2012 Know Peace entered the first turn three-wide in third, entered the straight 4-wide in seventh, pulled back and got to the rail past the post the first time (still 7th), then couldn't find his way around the traffic in front of him with a lap to go. Platinum Playboy was second with 3L of clear air in front and behind at the post the first time, got within a length of the leader at the end of the back straight (and got me, with my $10ew at $16.30 and $6.50, pretty excited) then faded to just hang onto 4th.
