tasman man 742 Report post Posted September 26, 2012 ....to the race in that it was run at little more than a hack canter. There were 2 warm fancies ,one was quite short on tote ,they were at back moved closer on turn , then got snookered in straight ,running on late for 3rd and 4th. Issue was there were just 7 horses in race ,along with slow tempo. In race 2 I watched Royal Lu which raced 2nd ,led in straight , got stitch but looked a chance for 4th but rider dropped hands well out from line....finished 6th .half-length from 4th. I guess things are just run at slower pace !!!....more relaxed.

How often do we see this - small fields - odds on fav gets snookered behind the leader - In Sydney it is classic, happens often

In days gone by,a horse may have been outside a first three dividend bearing position, and a jockey/or driver could be 'very gentle' on his horse in the latter stages of a race, perhaps throw away a 4th placing..which may cost an owner a few hundred dollars!! These days, with First Four Betting,it could cost Punters $Thousands of Dollars. Charges and Penalties should be as prevalent and severe for offenders missing 4th,as for those missing any higher placing. Gruff 2,798 Report post Posted September 26, 2012 Wrong race gazza.Im ranting and raving about the contrived first,if you backed the two favs you were robbed blind.both forbes and johnson took rails positions in a small field with no pace, the forbes mount drew well with options at 3 and hasnt seen the fence in any previous runs, but not today.absolute cert beat if you were on.chris johnson had a better oppurtunity to make his run sooner as he was on a noted finisher who was always going to sit back, yet chose to put coup rotorua underneath a runner at the back of a small dawdling field. Was cruel to watch.1.44 mile on the dead 4 track summed it up.disgrace....roll on hawkes bay and ellerslie ! Gruff 2,798 Report post Posted September 26, 2012 I will watch that race soon. Moaning? Probably a fair description for those that punted their hard earned, they were bent over bigtime!
Gruff 2,798 Report post Posted September 26, 2012 K C Walters whip action looked to be asking for a dislocation, very unusual.certainly was trying though and you could clearly see when the arm went, actually looked a hope for 3rd at the time.you backed her you were unlucky but she did her best and thats all you can ask for. Ohokaman 5,839 Report post Posted September 26, 2012 Forbes wasn't even riding at Wingatui yesterday. Think Gruff meant Rory Hutchings DC. Several of his mounts were blocked/unlucky and arguably should have won. Bad luck or bad riding ? Probably depends whether you backed them.. The Apprentice 1 Report post Posted September 26, 2012 Tenacious Jack in Brisbane yesterday. 6 horse field, snookered on the face the whole race and flies home for 2nd. Why don't these pea brains realise that you have to start getting out by the 800m - unless of course you want to stay snookered!
