Late Scratchings...again

Recommended Posts

I see another 2 late scratchings again at Addington tonight, again from the McInerney kennel.

They consistently have late scratchings nearly every meeting, and normally always when they have multiple runners in the race.

I'ts hard enough sitting on the ballot when you could of got a start when they know full well the dogs are not going to take place.

I think it is time the stipes got involved or because it is the McInerney kennel can they do what they like?

Mate, you're an idiot!!

With the amount of dogs they take to the track, is it not possible for a couple, out of "x" amount of runners, to be injured prior to race day.

I know it is trainer responsibility to prepare their dogs in the healthiest and soundest of manners.

It reads like you are trying to impose that they are race rigging to suit themselves. If this is the case mate, you need to be checked by your local Mental specialist.

Out of all the runners they produce to the track for race day, it is possible, after all, we are all only human, to have things NOT go our way, by the means of injuries or so on. Could've slipped the collar before entering the vehicle, couldve hurt itself in the kennel on the way to the track...

Like winners, there are no certainties!!

So every meeting they should have late scratchings?

If you look closely enough they never seem to have late scratchings when they have a ballot themselves....and yes I am suggesting that they are late scratching on purpose.....they get away with it all the time.

Mate, not just them. If the dog is unsound and injured, do they race them?

Anything can happen you dickhead. Im not getting defensive for Team McInerny but for every trainer who has had a late scratching. Just because it happens often, doesn't mean it happens on purpose.

You only notice it from them because they have plenty of dogs, and with plenty of dogs comes plenty of reserves.

Grow Up idiot. If you have trained a greyhound yourself, maybe you would better understand.

ds ask this question has any trainer been asked by stewards to explain late scratching or have the stewards had inquiry into late scratchings i wonder

Should be looked at, as it doesn't do justice to ballot dogs, or the punter when you have put your bets on, and you have to settle for off course favourites in quaddies etc when your dog ends up late scratched. Also has a big effect on quaddies divvies etc, when all scratching tickets end up on winning off course favourites.

Whether there is skullduggery or not, the issue should be addressed, rather than the old "don't worry about it" attitude.

Well as a rule they are normally the only ones with late scratchings consistently, no need to resort to personal insults either.....normally means someone is speaking the truth.

luke didnt you start with a personal insult?

Not quite sure who you think I am? Just annoyed that in the last 2 months a friend who has 3dogs trained in the CD has missed out on about 5 starts by late scratchings, was just notingt noted it happens a lot by the same branch of the southern kennel

Oh i see I miss read you,I thought you were talking about chch? But then why would you race a dog in the south?Let alone save a dog for a southland 457m only not to get one.But im sure your "friend" will get a start when the dog has form. Not much point racing a dog when it is not right what ever the time is or would it not bother you?

Late scratchings were fined $100 odd, maybe that needs to come back.

It will not make a difference in these cases as when you have so many dogs you are going to miss bits and peace's.

I see Paul getting into it now with scratching half the field to let retaliate firstt get an easy kill yesterday, that worked out well ....same thing he was doing when unprofessional first started racing, guess when you have large numbers it's easy to manipulate fields

Think what you like!

If I have a problem with someone I generally tell it to their face, not hide behind a computer screen.

Any comments I make on here I would happily put my name too, but as someone at the track accused me of making malicious comments on this site about them after you named me as another contributor (yes only first name I know, but that didn't stop them) I had to put it straight as some of the comments made are just trash.
