Instead of a spoilt child that dropped her lollipop in the dirt` I say give it to Mark Todd` took his defeat with grace ! That's how a true proffesional acts !! Good grief Faye. The guy behind the counter at my local KFC is pretty professional too - maybe we should give it to him? I suspect in Valerie's case, where she's won gold before and beaten The Chook numerous times before, you kinda know where things stand, all things being equal. In this case her opponent had help, and I'm sure she strongly suspected that. That can't have helped.... The Olympics are about performance, NOT who the most polite guy (or gal) is!!!! I know I find it difficult to comprehend the pressure that is placed on our top flight athletes to perform, especially those already rated top in their chosen field, in the world. When you think of the thousands of competitors from around the world who competed, took home nothing outside of the joy of being an Olympian and the experience here we have a display of "the only thing that matters is Gold". Good on her for wanting Gold and only Gold. NZ needs more ruthless champions like her. Do you think Bond and Murray would have been happy with silver? Of course not - they would have been disappointed with anything less than gold - and good on them. Would Bolt have been happy with anything but Gold? As for Mark Todd - he was an outside chance of a medal, not a hot favourite for gold, so of course he was happy with bronze.
