Tonya 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2009 hi there i am considering getting my mare in foal, i have a 15yr old anglo arab mare who i would be keen to get in foal with a nice temperment stallion. whats the costs? also what stallions are cheap and in or near ngaruawahia as it wont be a foal for racing, just one for eventing. thanks
lotsofggs 2 Report post Posted December 28, 2009 Not too sure if Straussbrook is still around- was down Te Kuiti way at around the $500 a few years ago. He has left some very good eventers. Prince Ferdinand has left some nice jumpers too, he is at Te Kauwhata. Red Cat I think is still based at Waharoa Matamata. I actually have a query about whether Strike Diamonds is still around? Last heard down CD way somewhere...
foxy 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 The stallion that they stand at Soliloquy Lodge in Karaka is a lovely but non-commercial type. I think his fee is around $500. Ring Richard Moore.
MJ 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 A few years ago at the Weanling sale at Karaka a lovely Colt by Haajiisan went through the ring. He was one of the nicest weanlings I've seen and there were sporthorse and racing people bidding on him. He was correct, super relaxed and a nice type. The stallion was supposed to be exactly the same. I'm not sure if he is still standing, but James & Vanessa Hart owned/own him at Cambridge. Sorry don't know the stud fee but they were very nice people. If I was going to use a TB stallion for a sporthorse that would be one I would definitely consider.
