In spite of the guy being inflicted with OCD over a certain stable, and also being in general an all round dickhead..

I watched an interview with Doug Graham, the Act candidate for Northland ( I think ) and I have to say that given the absolute perilous political circumstances New Zealand finds itself in..good on you for putting yourself up for election. I'm voting for Act, not his electorate. This country will be stuffed if the communists ( labour, watermelons, opportunists, maoris ) or any combination of them get to be the government next month. Seriously..some of the shit being put forward by these people is incredible. And it would mean very uncertain times for the future of horse racing in this country. ( This is why I've posted this in the Thoroughbred cafe).

It's funny how the left bloc campaign and some billboards refer to the three-headed monster currently in charge, yet the polls suggest it'd take a four-headed monster - plus maybe an independent or two - to (possibly) topple them. I would hate to see the Greens, TPM and/or the Opportunity Party (more for their tax policies, as the 5 'bottom lines' they've issued aren't too frightening, especially the 10-year health plan which reads like common sense to me) with their hands anywhere near the levers of control. Labour on its own would be more acceptable than any left-bloc coalition where the tail would be wagging the dog until all of the fleas fell out. It shows just how split the country is when the two main parties, Labour and National, would only just grab power if they were to form a coalition of their own (28%+28%=56%), which of course they won't be. And we only have to go back two elections when Labour did get in without requiring a coalition partner, and Jacinda screwed the country so hard that 6 years later we're still feeling the pain.

And if Flemington is called off tomorrow, how many Melbourne Cup programs get derailed?

Bucky your comments here go a lot wider than just direct racing related ones.I'm a tad disappointed with you slipping in such a strong personal political view .

Yeh right, The Act Party they had a Pedo President and an MP who was their Justice spokesman only to then find out that he had previously pleaded guilty to Fraud. They have a Gun Freak as their Deputy Leader and their Leader declared that he owned no property only to find out later that he was a trust beneficiary in property.

Then there was Donna Awatere who had her collar felt and spent time in prison and remember the "Perk Buster" who forgot all about it when he took his lady on an overseas trip at the taxpayers' expense. All this and you think the other lot are strange

Finally, Hitler blamed the Jews and The Act Party blames the Maoris and it works as many racists vote for them

They are all as bad as each other. Plenty of examples from both sides of fence if one cares to look and remember. But there's no real point in going there. To look beyond the last Labour government, the current coalition and the next coalition - as there will surely be one - is just pointless point scoring.

Sir Delius for the Melbourne Cup.

I see both Gunbower and Murtoa are off , H10 at HQ , going to make for an interesting day .

I had to take a drive down to St Kilda from Caulfield, it's been torrential rain for an hour at least, roads flooded, no way Caulfield could race, unless Flemington is an oasis then it must be a H15......FFS.

As a maori, if there was an election today my vote would be with Act.

I don't care enough or have the energy to engage in debate explaining why I think Act is a good choice, likewise I don't care to tell someone why their party of choice may be a bad one... BUT one thing I will say is to be careful assuming the likes of the maori party represent and speak on behalf of ALL maori.  They just happen to be the loudest.

Sir Delius to win the Turnbull

Max is a non-racist centre-right voter who has promised his-self to sell up and live in the land of the bouncing kangaroo and the blind platypus if we cop another Labour-led coalition next month. The mere thought of seeing Hipkins running the show again is enuf to make Max puke. As for Toey Chloe and the other loony toons handling the economy? RIP NZ and welcome to Aotea-tina (SWIDT?)

How much does it cost to buy a house near Flemington?

Yes they do at times but why sabotage this" Throughbred Cafe" platform  within the Racecafe forum to rant your  strong political views.

Plenty of other places to do this.

That's what I call a bit of a "cheap shot".Anyway back to racing.....

Bucky, Maxi is too nice a mustelid to call you a word that doesn't exist ..magnaminious, did you say? No, lemme check it was magnimonious.  Bad luck on both counts there, me ol' mucker but Max will also resist the temptation to call Miss Jools.

I can't help myself in having a small say in this .

To be open from the beginning , I don't care about politics or politicians , they are all as bad/useless as the each other . The one thing I do want in any politician is a social conscience , very few do , most say they do but they have to don't they .

I was born and raised in the working class therefor Labour has been the party of choice , when I voted .

I don't see a lot between any of the parties now , I see people bashing all parties that have had a crack at running the country , all are failing the country and their peoples .

National and their minor offsiders haven't exactly set the place on fire , I have been reading a lot of figures about who has achieved what the last lot done to the country , and the Damien Grant column this morning yet again confirmed the figures I had already read .

This current group of politicians supposedly correcting the mess have spending up as % of GDP . Tax revenue is down as a % of GDP , and total debt against GDP has risen 2.5% , all since taking over from the last rabble of politicians . Didn't they slash and burn all over the place ???

We have higher unemployment , higher cost of living , higher mortgage rates , basically higher everything .

So why does this Govt have things still tracking the wrong way??

Because my wife and I never had kids , always had jobs and paid our share , but we have never received anything from any political party in Govt , so we don't really care who's in charge , because not much changes for us , and as that great leader of men Chris Luxton said "It's all good , we're sorted".

But we see a lot of people not so fortunate struggling and I ask myself of this current group , where is the social conscience ???

So just who should people be wary of ???

So you are saying that at this moment under the current regime it’s “desperate times”.
I think that too!
That’s why a change is necessary 😉

Have you forgotten what a Labour-led coalition did from 2017, then the appalling things they did when given a clear runway in 2020?
