See the list of Group and Listed races out for new season and the Castletown Stakes must have been deleted as not there unless it is just an oversight

Strange. Only the Pattern Committee could delete it couldn't they and we don't have their report yet.

I guess part of NZTR's ridiculous plan to close Trentham down as outlined in the Project Stamina Report.

Take their Group races off them and give them to other clubs, the Oaks to Ellerslie, the Telegraph to Manawatu RC etc.

That's just two, but there are others.

It disgusts me that the Patten Committee are complicit in this skulduggery too.

With Paul Humphries' involvement with both RACE and now acting NZTR chairman,  it isn't hard to find a link....not that I am implying it is all his doing, but...

I just despair at what people with no heart for the industry other than earning a living are doing to our sport .

Used to be the sport of Kings , now becoming the sport of Paupers because of guys in grey suits .

Grey suits with socks and sandals because they know they will not tread on each others toes 😉

Except for the CEO of NZTR , he simply slipped into the slippers left under the desk from his predecessors .

A closure by stealth. This is an appalling decision. Who is on the Pattern Committee?

Wouldn't been good to announce these changes and the perceived data that says these changes will be of benefit for the industry or are we just trying something for the sake of it. They must have good information to warrant such changes

I think they are running out of dates to try the Telegraph on .

Absolute disgrace that they show such a time honored race so little respect .

But it shows what we have become .

You have to wonder what these goons are thinking.

The Telegraph has always been part of the Wellington Cup Carnival in January, but like Auckland clubs did with the New Years Carnival, it just means fewer people on course when they are away on holidays somewhere else.

Moving The Telegraph to March 27 means that the Wellington Cup Carnival now has NO Group One races.

The first day January 9, has the Group 2 Levin Classic, Gr3 Phar Lap, Listed Wellesley Stakes, Marton Cup and Lightning Hcp.

January 16 has the Gr2 Thorndon Mile,Gr3 Desert Gold Stakes and Trentham Stakes with the Group 3 Wellington Cup on January 30.

The March 27 meeting will have the Telegraph, Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes and NZ Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes, supported by the Gr2 Wellington Guineas so sounds like a decent enough card.

27th March Day looks great with 3 G1 races with some originally from different clubs, going to different venue, under a different Racing club. At least they are still in system but where is the Castletown Stakes that has produced many a good winner until they moved it around, yet I am surprized no one from Foxton Racing Club has said a dicky bird about it either way.

What a complete utter fiasco

No rhyme or reason for any of this but the underlying current clearly spells the closure of Trentham.

NZ Racing digging it’s own hole, just unfathomable that the self destruction seems to be in everything they touch

It is over, just a timing issue now

Sadly but true. In fact I’ve given up.
