I will say that Ellerslie always looks immaculate and credit to caretakers, course managers etc. Compared to Trentham which always looks like a dogs breakfast, and shouldn't be called the Champagne Turf any longer.

Champagne turf should have been ditched after the turn of the millennium. Absolutely cringe when I hear that phase spoken!!

Jason Fullford does an amazing job with his team and obviously the garden crew as well. Credit to them

And so it should with the recent capital expenditure. It's a showcase. And full credit to the grounds team. Apples and oranges.

Kind words.....my daughter works there in the gardens

Has your daughter seen all the amazing photos of how beautiful Ellerslie Racecourse used to be full of flowers?

We could do with those back and the Garden / Flower Festival - they were great showcase days and helped fulfill that aspect of Education of Reserves.

It would also be good to see the "Deer" restored that have been there  for many years that are made from a mix of scoria and sand amongst other materials,- anyone reading this who can assist restoration of them perhaps contact Ellerslie Race club.

As an aside, it would be good to see the clay drain half pipes around the 100 year old office cleaned out so the water flows freely.

People should respect that historical water system that nature also appreciate better -  the pipes by the office.

Thanks for passing this on.

It's the little things that stand out.

We need more people interested in gardening.
