Puts them in the race, can’t ask for more

Williams could have, and possibly should have, handed up but he doesn’t do that. Irony is Williams negated the chances of his horse winning too but he not suspended like Clark

Not left field, but another example of “protecting the protected”

Trotting will end up like NZ Gallops where sit and sprint home dominates  to the detriment of all, particularly the punter, if the “protectionism” gets control

I wish there were more Clark’s

What about his horses? He ruins them and one pulled up lame in that race. Get real!!

I don’t think he does ruin them at all, on sells after their 2yo season

There were 2 drivers involved both made poor decisions, why penalise just one? Does not add up, but it does of course some are “protected”

Stuff the drivers! What about the poor bloody horse? Stipes report: A post-race veterinary examination revealed slight lameness in the right hind leg and a high heart rate.

It was a shocking drive that was unnecessary in a small field. The horse had no chance of winning and was driven into the ground and suffering lameness and high heart race. You think that's OK? Get real!! 🙄

Not sure giving it a tough run can cause lameness unless I'm missing something

Elevated heart rate sure, but the lameness can't be used in the argument about the drive in my opinion.

What? The horse would not have been allowed to start if it was lame before the race began. Of course it was injured during the race because of the cowboy driver. Get real!!!

Not talking about the horse at all, talking about two drivers who were both negligent and why only one penalised.

The horse health issue is concerning but not debating that, a red herring in terms of the discussion

Red herring??? Get real!!

The reason Clark is treated more harshly by the stipes is because he's a serial offender. He's been doing the same thing for decades. Clark keeps driving like a cowboy so the stipes keep hitting him. The guy is obviously a slow learner...

Nice attitude (!!!!)

Horses can pull up sore, going amiss during the running.

You merely chose to use the lameness to embellish you argument about the drive.

Cleaning toilets might be more in your line of expertise?

Not normally a fan of AI, but as an independent source, FYI:

AI Overview
Horses going "sore" during or immediately after races is a common issue in the horse racing industry, frequently stemming from the intense physical demands of high-speed training and competition. This soreness can range from mild muscle fatigue and delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) to significant musculoskeletal injuries

What all the keyboard warriors on here are failing to acknowledge is that it's his horse, he pays the bills for it, and he's entitled to drive it in what he considers the best way for it to be driven.

Is it the accepted "normal" style of driving? No, Does it win races? Absolutely.

At least he's consistent and drives them the same way every start, so you know what you're going to get, and any rival driver who doesn't factor that into their own tactics is a fool.

In my view, Tim Williams was only marginally less culpable. The only mitigating excuse for his drive was that Clark's horse trotted a bit roughly on occasions, (probably due to the soreness that was discovered post race), so he may have been wary of letting it cross him. That aside, his was a 5/10 drive at best.

Clark has driven more than 50 winners, and won over half a million in stakemoney. How many on here, or on the stewards panel for that matter, can match that?

Is he a serial offender? No. He's a serial trier. He tries his arse off every time he goes out there, which is more than you can say for a lot of others!

Do I know Alan Clark? Never met the man.

Neil Brady drove in a similar way - had a lot of respect around getting or ho9lding the lead,

Didn't mind it 👍

I remember those days Alf and drivers were dumb thinking Neil would  sit parked without attacking  . Makes you think the same with drivers who sit LTF parked . They never learn

Surprised no one has criticized Sam Ottley's drive on Jumal. Shocker - will be surprised if he doesn't have a driver change next start. One mistake ok - 2nd mistake hmmm - 3rd mistake = see you later. Sure way to turn a horse sour.

Yes, has been raised elsewhere. Friday night l can honestly say I'd have done better. It was worse than appalling. And as you say, not the first, or the second, poor drive.

I always thought that drivers indicate to each other if lead is there or not, after the distance travelled what made A Clarke think lead was there for him? clearly lead wasn't there; Williams to my mind had every right to stay where he was, and keep it on, as in the end either you've got the horsepower to make the pass and take the lead or not, or sit parked an apply pressure, Clarke clearly didn't....🤔

Never saw that race but watched a race today and both Tim Williams and Mark Hurrell should get a kick up the arse with their drives on Ebony Arden and Toscana Race 7 at Winton . They both should know better

I thought Hurrells was the the worst part of it /. He has too many brain fades in such situations. Destroyed Wag Star in Kaikoura Cup and backed up with another shocker in FFA at Addington a week later.

Totally agree - repeat offender at murdering horses.
