Are we witnessing an end to the Te Akau dominance?

I'd love to see Stephen "Sweet Pea" Marsh to win the Trainers Premiership, as he is an amazingly talented trainer and he deserves to win his first Premiership. There's plenty of water to go under the bridge though, before the end of the season. He is however is heading in the right direction to win a premiership!!

Yet another Saturday goes by without a win in the North for TA.   Definitely not what they would wish for.

And still no city winners in Aussie either though Damask Rose second in a $200K race is better than a poke in the eye. South Island branch certainly having a drought though and must be of some concern.

Hasn't won a Saturday race of any description for nearly 16 months , Bellatrix Star won the Schillaci .

Not great for all the hype , I don't really recall a young horse either that is looking like a top liner .

Needs more than a win or two as well , it's all about metro winners .

Has to be some pressure .

Stephen most likely get there because Te Akau usually dont race many horses late may june july

until now they haven't had to, such has been their dominance. Perhaps they're rethinking that strategy even as we speak ...and, given the less than stellar performances of some quite ...very expensive horseflesh in the last 12 months or so, mebbe some of these well-bred 'stayers' will be repurposed as jumpers hoping for some belated rich pickings here and in Australia ...they've had excellent results over there the last year or two (Leaderboard and The Mighty Spar come to mind) ..whether they win or not, they stay in work and therein lies more $$$$...training, agistment, farriers, transport, feed ...

Someone i know bought a share in the Mighty Spar purchased for about $600,000.  It was supposed to be a Derby winning stallion prospect (breeding syndicate) and he didnt exactly think it was excellent that ended up as a gelded hurdler over the ditch.

There were 1,000 horses brought at Karaka last week that are suppose to win the derby, oaks, karaka million etc.......a lot of them won't be good enough to be hurdlers.

Mr and Mrs Richards to return for 'family' reasons? Just idle speculation on Maxi's part.

Doubt it

Starting to put some runs on the board in the toughest gig going. Tho I suspect this year he has to score more runs

Actually they did win quite a few in the winter last year but they said in the spring the Aussie team had a lot of promising youngsters to 'unleash'. Still waiting.
