It's pretty certain that this time next year greyhound racing will have ceased to exist in New Zealand, whether you agree or not. I'm wondering how the wind down is progressing within the industry ? and how all the clubs are going to start offloading all assets, selling off of land ? dwellings and other assets. What has the government got planned to assist ? What plan has the government got to re-home all of the greyhounds ? .. I bet the Green party won't assist.

And what's really interesting is how it can all wind down, it's greyhound racing so how does it gradually wind down ? .. have dog will race seems to be the go at the moment.

So its either gradual planned operation, or it comes to a grinding halt on D-DAY.

What is NZGRA doing ? after all we are only 8 months away from D-DAY.

There has been no planning or consultation what so ever between GRNZ run programs for rehoming of dogs, the govermnent, and licensed holders.

The only information the govt has provided to date that it is planning on taking (illegally might I add) the 15m dollars on the GRNZ books as a private, incorporated society.

If I were GRNZ, id be massively upping stakes for the next 8 mths.

Agree, but we all know what GRNZ are like. They think it will all go away like a toothache might, and they won't and haven't done anything for years.

And just like a toothache it won't go away by itself.

Having quotes that "we love our dogs and they love to race " or the industry pumps so many millions into our economy etc is completely off point.

I have been involved with dogs for 30 years and seen so many great people, great trainers etc and would back them to the hilt.

Luckily I haven't been anywhere near the ratbags and the ones responsible for what is unfolding, have heard many attest to witnessing some pretty disgusting things.

What gets me is we have had some prominent announcers and or commentators involved with disgraced Kennels like Freeman and they must of known what was going on. Unbelievably he is president of a greyhound club. What the hell does that tell you ?

GRNZ have dug this huge hole and fallen into it, never to climb out. And the ratbags that have got away with a slap with a wet bus ticket ... thanks very much.

Can someone please explain why there dogs jumping from the 1 box in the semifinals of the Galaxy when we were told that the 1 box would only be used in race finals. I believe getting rid of the 1 box was on Animal welfare grounds I'm confused
