Melbourne Cup comp - entry thread

Post your bets on this thread before 4.30pm on Tuesday.  Keeping it relatively simple:

• you have $100 to invest on the Melbourne Cup
• maximum of 5 bets, ie. anywhere between 1 & 5 bets
• Win, Place, Each Way, Quinella & Trifecta bets only  
• Tote prices will be used (no fixed odds)
• scratchings can be replaced up until the 4.30pm posting deadline

and in terms of the 5 bet maximum, we'll say that an each way bet counts as one bet. 

Prizes...$225 total.  

             1st $150 bet 

             2nd $50 bet

             3rd $25  bet

As per normal 50% of any winnings to the person placing the bet 50% to Racecafe for future comps.

Bets to be placed on one of the last two days of the Spring carnival in Melbourne.

Yes and whatever the bet costs to do on the tote is what it will be considered as here.So the simpler the better.

Peter, sorry to be a pain in the ass or the policewomen but that bet wouldn't be acceptable to the TAB.

The percentage is way too small.

If you were to take a 5% boxed trifecta on the 8 horses your cost would be $2016 but you only have $100.

An eight horse boxed trifecta is 8x7x6 = 336 combinations. $100 is 29%.

All of those percentages for the poor old scorer to work out. And then it says an each way bet is one bet, and then some take different amounts for a win and the place, really making six bets. I'll keep it simple.

RDYTY  ( our Ted  ) posted an amazing story on BGP  about Presage Nocturne 
so two of the best selectors in the business have gone for the Grey entire son of Wooten Bassett.

But can he give weight away to Half Yours and Valiant King ??
