...well, according to the LoveRacing publicists "there's only one way to return...an interview with ... Opie Bosson".

Typical of the narrow-minded garbage coming out of NZTR and its media 'personalities...'

This cr+p makes Max sick.
Why is there "only one way" to return ..by reprising all the info we already know from decades -worth of i/vs with OP, the man who retired but couldn't stay away..yawn.
Why couldn't the Guerin Report return trying something new...like (off the top of Maxi's head) an interview with someone/anyone who has never been interviewed before?
An apprentice rider, perhaps from overseas, who has/is confronting language and cultural barriers just to get a start? An aspirational young trainer (Sam Logan?) An iconic trainer who has recently returned after the debacle of Singapore (Sam's mother, Donna)? A jumps rider just getting started, risking life and limb every ride to get established? A hard-hitting interview with J Oatham Esq about Stipendiary Stewards approach to illegal use of the whip rule(s)? Nah...too hard...

Oh no... we can't do that...the Guerin Report has to "return" with a yawn-fest interview with our good Te Akau buddy, OP.
Don't tell me, I'm guessing here ...I bet we've scheduled an update with J Mac, too, just in time for the Spring Carnival.

Cynical? Negative? Damn right.
It's indicative of the malaise that characterises NZ Racing.

There are so many wonderful people across the industry working their heart and guts out for the game they love, but Mick and his producers don't see them.
His uppermost thought about subject matter for the new season? He wants to interview Opie. Again.

Well it is a pretty tight circle in NZ racing .

Some good suggestions there Max .

Being the professional punter he seems to have us believing him to be, I wonder how he is enjoying the monopoly.

I saw some of that interview . I hope Opie gets some help . He came across to me that mentally he is not ok . Anyone who has been involved in racing the adrenalin , the memories , lures you back .

There comes a point where you realize there is more to life than just the industry

I think most of us thought he had made that decision. Gets back to the puppet master I guess.

I do worry about Opie, he doesn't look like he's enjoying being back, that smile has evaporated on raceday as well. He's by far the best we have, and the industry needs to reach out and ensure his wellbeing is paramount.

None of us are perfect, Opie looks as though he's trapped and it wouldn't surprise me if he retires again. I hope not, but it's on the cards.

Back to Guerin, I agree with the above sentiments. Get a bloody positive spin on some newish talent.

I always remember when Sam Spratt as an example is interviewed, you get that feeling that things are actually not as bad as they seem. She is a shining example of how NZ racing should be.

We shouldn't be surprised at Guerin attaching himself to the elite. With harness racing his approach was similar, with DD being a prime example. At the opposite end I shall never forget his belittling of the late George Shand and his horse, Eastwood Jaunty when it qualified for the NZ cup. A real battler, but Guerin was disparaging towards him.

No time for Guerin.

With Opie I got the impression he was...financially sorted to a degree...bit of a farm going on?

Am I mistaken? Has he come back because the bank account dictates that he has to?

Well his relationship/marriage is over, am I correct?

I got the same feeling with Opie he doesn't seem happy

Why should that have anything to do with anything...why must his private life always be dragged up...leave the guy alone.

You miss the point, when relationships go sour circumstances change, things can get messy in the dollars department, assets etc etc, just saying.

you are cynical and negative and perhaps should focus your time and efforts in to a different hobby.

No time for Guerin.

He did the same many years ago with the Nolans when they had Yulestar. Guerin took exception to them changing the driver and he was very very out of order in the way he reacted. Thinks hes bigger than the game.
