Some years ago this man was appointed general manager of NZTR.  I thought it was a "curious" appointment as his knowledge of racing was sadly deficient.

And somehow the man eventually became the Ombudsman.

After that Adrian Orr bunfight at the Reserve Bank John Allen has proven that he is one of our greatest Ombudsmen.

So he obviously had talents that were not apparent when he ran NZTR.

Yes, but who did all the work that lead to John Allen getting credit for it?

Doubtful if it was him..

How much did we spend along the way to get this Ombudsman's Report?

At a guess he's not as efficient as previous Ombudsmen including the Ombudsman from Christchurch way in the late 1990's early 2000's who loved and had first hand experience in our Racing Sector.

His name escapes us for now but he was great to deal with and knew how to interpret Legislation and apply it in a jiffy.
