First 2 year old Trials at Te Rapa.Today.

 

Can someone direct me to the selections post that we made from the 2025 Karaka yearlings 

I will collate , or attempt to update how we are doing  as the season progresses.

Hopefully there is another El Dorado somewhere ??!!

Say no More and Ohokaman should be happy with themselves after yesterday’s trial. 
I thought that Kinnaid (out of Orinda) was strong on the line.
I thought that he went just as good a trial as the winner. 
In saying that all three TA “babies” went super well.

Just having a look at the selection list and the most popular pick by entrants is Lot 417 the $400k Snitzel  - Zayydani colt.   

I guess they are hoping the Snitzel factor will kick in as I note on the dam side the following:

Dam Zayydani    Didn't start as a 2yo  Won 6 from 1600m to 2137m

Grand dam  Ruqqaya    Didn't start as a 2yo  Two wins at 2000m & 2100m

3rd dam  Sayyida    2 starts as a 2yo for a third.  Two wins at 1400m & 1600m

4th dam  -   Eastern Princess    Don't know if she started at 2  but 6 wins were from 1600m to 2200m 

This is Zayydani's first foal but the other three dams have not left a precocious 2yo winner

In the right stable for the race though.

A big part of selecting for the KM comp was not only pick running 2 year olds but also find the right stables who train 2yo's main one being Te Akau.

Not as yet. She is coming along nicely. Had a very good jump out last week at Matamata and currently having a three week break at the farm before coming back in to work to continue her preparation.    Black Kirrama can probably confirm.

Hunza - 2 generations back, would increase its appeal. An exceptional boodmare. Another to look for would be Taiona, with Mr. Brightside and Ka Ying Rising the current stars.
