Race 7 at Addington, odds on favourite Mystery Beach strides to the lead early. Then allows stablemate The Coalman to go past into the lead, then pulls out to go around to take the lead again giving The Coalman a beautiful sit. The Coalman who evidently shortened in the betting just before the race took the lane and won.

All through the day us punters were told the stable and driver stating Mystery Beach was the best of the day.

I'm sure the close connections were on the winner😏

I notice this alot a stablemate surrenders the lead to another one. Also two horses from the same stable follow each other on the outside train one takes the lead and immediately surrenders it to the stablemate.

Been happening for years - some of the biggest stables used to be the most obvious - there’s also a couple of now senior drivers that used to “team up” a lot as juniors up north - in all cases I am sure if asked both drivers would say they gave thier own horse the best opportunity by handing up not using up, and the retaking the lead this time……..Tui Ads alive and well ……….Can’t wait to see the stipes report on the trot where the winner bowled one early and went on to win - obviously if ya gonna cause a gallop do it early and it doesn’t count……no wonder it’s only the die hards still watching and we got Auckland looking like closing - no one cares

MB galloped away and lost 10m.  Coalman made a flyer from the 10m and was with the front row almost immediately.  Theres a 20m swing right there and for me THAT is where the race was won and lost.

I don't think Sam should have left the trail after the rough beginning and then circling the field.  Horse could have done with a breather... But doubt it mattered in the end.

Totally agree with you and why would she leave the trail to go around a horse she knew full well would take her to the turn . I think it was always about setting up The Coalman to win the race
