BIG KAHUNA CHARITY PUNTERS CLUB COMP SAT 21st JUNE

There seems to be some concern about the Rotorua track and a bit of rain.

Obviously the Riccarton situation last week wasn't to be seen as a precedent, or else Rotorua would have already been moved to the Cambridge AWT. It is only about 50 minutes from Rotorua to Cambridge.

What would be the chances of a late transfer in the morning?

From Love Racing - The RIB and Club have completed their afternoon inspection of the Rotorua track. It continues to rain, however the track is currently showing no signs of any surface water. There is more significant rain forecast throughout the evening followed by a fine forecast on Saturday. A further track inspection will be conducted after 6am on raceday morning.

.  Looking at Met Service for Rotorua They have had 46 mm today and expect 67 mm by midnight.  My pick is it will be too wet.  If it is I hope they run on Sunday or Monday on the Rotorua course and don't consider the Cambridge AWT

If they do decide to race at Rotorua on a sodden track, surely it raises the question of why they couldn't race on a heavy 10 at Riccarton last week? Riverton conducted a perfectly successful meeting on a heavy 10 today.

It begins to look like Riccarton is probably the only track where they are quite happy to change tracks merely because the two alternatives are side by side.

A further inspection of the Rotorua track early Saturday morning has shown it fit for racing. Heavy rain eased around 9pm Friday and despite being a Heavy10 the track is good order for racing after not being used on raceday for over four months.

You have to wonder why it was done...do they not want winter racing in the south...or is Riccarton so stuffed it could not have recovered after the meeting...seems rules for some and rules for others.

Track looked remarkably good in the first and winner came up the inside.

Yes first few should be ok...I imagine it will cut out later...and going into winter it may take a while to recover...but looks very safe which is a rarity these days.

Trentham is holding up well too...good winter footing.

It does look to be running good , still need to be getting wide but for some reason some jocks still keep trying to reinvent the wheel .

Imagine if they were like Trentham and had another meeting next weekend...what then????

That's another way to say how well Trentham has stood up all year, carrying half the load for the CD.

Thanks Scooby.

So the trials scheduled for Rotorua on Tuesday have been canned due to the amount of rain they have had , so why have they not xfered them to Cambridge ?

Well I wasn't far off , Cambridge Trials for next week have been brought forward to this Friday to compensate .

Be interesting to see the entries .

Almost certain to be better than the awapuni trials that have been cancelled through lack of entries.

Certainly , but many that would have been running at the Rotorua trials are unlikely to go to Cambridge .
