Thejanitor 1,484 Report post Posted Sunday at 03:19 AM What a win by We Walk By Faith in the time-honoured Taylor Mile. The horse settled at the rear with patient drive from M White. The horse was jogging turning for home and bolted down the straight and hit the lead 100m with blinding speed to bolt in with marvellous time 1:51.6. Congratulate to A C Cullen for another perfectly trained horse. The only surprising thing to me was the price. I thought I was lucky to get on at $21 and thought the horse would shorten. Nope, he blew out to $35 and paid $28! WTF. It seems everyone forgot or didn't see his slashing run in the Auckland FFA when he came from last to run 5th behind DSD. I thought he was a good thing. His win shows that patient rive best for speed horses like We Walk By Faith, Chase A Dream & DSD can make up lengths in the straight if left for last run. We Walk By Faith smashed them and could have gone another round. Notable too is the breeding of WWBF, Bettor's Delight & Art Major mare -- Leap To Fame also the same cross. Art Major speed, Bettor stamina and strength. We Walk By Faith will win more group races this season for sure. I think it's the right decision because the horse hasn't been right this season. I think the hard racing and travel he had as a 2 and 3 year old knocked him? Be interesting to see if he returns to his best or maybe his best days are in the past? Charlie E

Hopefully he will come back stronger . We Walk by Faith and Chase a Dream seem to be a step ahead of the other atm especially with Merlin out and Mo'unga running a shocker last start and others just not performing . Would love to hear from anyone regarding Alta Meteor . Any of you Southern boys seen him at the trials down there ? Iraklis 2,403 Report post Posted Tuesday at 06:07 AM Guys, Merlin got sick in oz on his last trip there, and it really knocked him; he hasn't really come right, so good break will do him the world of good....I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him, good on Barry & Scott Cheers Iraklis Charlie E and Thejanitor

He should have bought him last year and won the QLD Derby. (old stable-mate 'Major Hot' won it instead) anyway he isn't going to get a look in with 'Leap To Fame' on his home track, and the supporting acts of 'Swayzee' and 'Don Hugo' are in town from NSW. he'll just be racing for 4th Placing and monies lol. Did catch up with Marky when he was in town with old warhorse ( and future NZ Cup winner) SELF ASSURED way back 2019. He won all 4 starts including the QLD Derby in about 1.54 each run. Leap To Fame running the same times in those same races as a 3 year old in 2022. (the Derby being one of Very few races we run over 2680m ) maybe he''ll bring Rubira to try and win it after beating Marketplace at his last start there. Must be Great Northern Derby time soon first ? Thejanitor and Charlie E
Charlie E 790 Report post Posted Tuesday at 07:33 PM Will be great seeing him race over there PS , because he still may be on the improve with only 3 runs back . I think Self Assured should have won more races but for bad luck including the NZ Cup . Rubira he looks like a nice horse and with Mark being such a great judge must think he is up to up . Maybe the Kiwi horses can win a good pacing race for a change over there lol Iraklis and Thejanitor 1

I think Marketplace, who looks to be something special, is better than Rubira, only bad luck or bad drive will beat him. Rubira would be a big chance in the Queensland Derby if he made the trip. Let's hope he does. Charlie E

You are right MP is something special and I think Aussie is about to see that too Thejanitor
