Abandonments are so common now

Recommended Posts

All you can do is just Laugh.. and it will continue to be the demise of racing....no point putting up fancy stakes and big days if the tracks are farked, because most of them are....wake up the people who are in charge of this recurring theme... you are quite clearly incompetent and should just leave.

And here was me singing the praises of the young lady caretaker after the previous meeting.

It is my honest opinion that the people in charge of setting the criteria on how a track is to be presented on a race day, have put in place a policy that is not realistically achievable, particularly when considering our weather patterns.

Horse put its foot in some sort of hole.....not an issue with the actual track surface....why they could not just fix it and move on??? Jockeys were keen to continue...but stipes overuled them.

Once again NZTR save all the money in stakes and owners get shafted and are asked to lose money for showing up again.

Can you not read...it was not the track condition...stop blaming her...there was a hole...but it wont stop you from bleeding on.

It doesn't say a hole in the Stewards Report.  It says the horse blundered THEN slipped.  It was the slip that cancelled the meeting!  But I guess the Stewards Report is a pack of lies!

The commonsense move is to reopen the Hawera noms for Wednesday , they are currently pretty light , and split any fields they have to .

But I started with "commonsense", a reasonably redundant practice at NZTR .

Funny they were left open away from Friday.

Course managers/caretakers are doing their best but are totally hamstrung by lack of funding for gear and equipment. NZTR staff levels continue to increase. Nothing will change unless smaller clubs get more track maintenance money.

All clubs have renovation work funded through NZTR as well as a period of time to do so.

Irrigation shouldn't be used to change the state of the track but to provide a safe surface whatever that it is.

Last year there was $4.9m allocated.  To quote the NZTR 2024 Annual Report - Only $200k was capex - the rest went on AWT maintenance and the Awapuni Upgrade.  The previous four years the fund averaged $1m per annum - no where near enough.

They were already left open on Friday until Monday 9am.

I know from a couple of riders there what happened they would have no reason to make it up...CM or is it Trojan or is it CS hard to know...I am sure you must confuse yourself too having so many conversations with yourself and all your made up characters......🤪

Why do you insist on making everything to be about identities?

So if you did talk to a couple of Jockeys did they want to continue?

Why wasn't the rabbit hole reason mentioned in the Stewards Report where the emphasis was on the recovery slip?

Instead on focusing on who knows what or who is right why not focus on the issues?

Yep I heard that also, and found it extremely weird they didn't fill the hole and even get some Turf cut out to fit. Also don't they do track inspections pre races anymore ?

Don't you think it's a bit weird that a rabbit digs a deep hole in the middle of a track?  Especially when there would have been a lot of activity on the track during the week.

Surely if there was a hole that would be down to track maintenance? Would there not be a pre-meeting inspection of the track?

No hole mentioned in the stipe report .

Following the running of this event, Riders’ representatives, Stewards and the Track Manager examined the area of the track where UNUSUAL NUGGET had blundered. This revealed a significant slip mark where the gelding had endeavoured to retain its footing after blundering. A meeting was convened with all riders and after deliberating, the decision was made by the Stewards to abandon the meeting due to safety concerns.

fudge doing a track inspection to hard, same club rolled dice last year with not watering and got away with it, guess they got snake eyes this time, have a look over last 5yrs to see how many times this venue has had problems, not poking stick at anybody but facts don't lie.

Who said it was a rabbit hole??? You said that not anyone else....it was an old possible post hole...and you would need to ask the stewards why they did not mention it, and yes the jocks were keen to keep going.
