Pegasus 9 778 Report post Posted January 27 Orchestral's sister has sold for $2.4m at the New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale at Karaka. (Image: NZB) Racing.Com James Tzaferis Orchestral’s sister set a new benchmark for a yearling filly sold in New Zealand when she was knocked down to bloodstock agent Guy Mulcaster and champion trainer Chris Waller for $2.4 million during an enthralling few minutes at Karaka on Monday. Bred by Sarah Green’s Barneswood Farm and offered on account of Haunui Farm, the filly is by champion sire Savabeel and out of the O’Reilly mare Symphonic, who Green bought and raced. The $2.4m pricetag is was the most paid for a yearling at Karaka since Don Eduardo made $3.6m in 2000. Mulcaster confirmed the filly was bought by a client to race with Waller in Australia. “She is a beautiful filly and her sister winning on Sunday night really helped her,” Mulcaster said. “We are lucky that we had a very good client that supported us. “I took them to see her this morning and I probably low-balled her value but I think he knew what I was up to and it was all good, he wasn’t panicking. “She was pretty typical of a Savabeel, she had a good girth and she’s got a little bit of growing to do. “We’ll give her time, take her back to Australia and see where she ends up.” Green said it was an emotional result with a filly that she contemplating keeping to race. “It’s absolute fairytale stuff,” Green said. “We didn’t think that was going to happen – you never do – but when she went passed the reserve I started to cry because I knew she was gone and I loved her so much. “It just kept going and I can't believe it, it’s a dream. “We’ve got a full sister at foot, so we’ll keep that one.” Blaird, Baz (NZ) and Zakhu

He’s also been a decent stallion - the one you would know of his was SPANISH MISSION who was third in the 2021 Melbourne Cup behind a certain VERRY ELLEGGANT.
