JJ Flash 2,549 Report post Posted January 9 Anyone else enjoy his calls last night. Compared to A W he is a breath of fresh air, accurate and without all the nonsense Thejanitor and Spikecity

Nelli 534 Report post Posted January 10 Was on course. Certainly accurate and put excitement across. Also club must have improved sound system as clear to hear everywhere I went. Overcheck and JJ Flash
We're Doomed 5,720 Report post Posted January 10 Just good clear accurate calls. AW would be perfectly ok, he just needs to stop adding in all the extra bits and stick to the basics. He should sit down and watch Flemington tomorrow and learn that less is more. JJ Flash

When you call as many races as AW calls, it'd be easy to slip into variations that some listeners obviously don't appreciate. Most of our callers are clear and accurate but don't put the excitement into their calls like Dave Clarkson, Peter Kelly, Reon Murtha, Mark Mcnamara , and Tony Lee did, and that is what is needed to bring new people to the game. If it doesn't sound exciting then why would they bother.

Yes agree, I have no idea why other callers tell us whose driving etc during a race. I'm pretty sure most people don't want to hear useless information. eljay 1,784 Report post Posted January 11 If he didn't give drivers name you would want to know why. Yes, Bruce did a good job. The occasional temporary change is always good - but I remember a few years back now where Aaron was praised for being a new fresh addition to the airwaves. In the wash up, really, all we want is accuracy and however the caller does it, call our bet first over the line. Talking of new "talent" I am very impressed with the ability etc. of Jordyn Bublitz. A former Junior Driver who learnt her trade under Tony Herlihy and of course Mum & Dad, both right into racing. Jordyn's last worked as a stablehand with Sean McCaffrey and had quite a few drives for Luk Chin. It's nice to see her knowledge of working with horses coming through in her comments (and I've chuckled at times when she made specific comments about some of the horses she's sat behind).
