Was hoping someone within the industry or NZGRA would be able to enlighten us on what the plan if any is on fighting the governments plan to end it all in 19 months and counting. The Logistics involved to stop doesn't bare thinking about.

I just hope the NZGRA don't sit on their hands like they usually do and leave it till the last minute.

I'm sure this time it's not the case and they are hard out preparing or creating the plan out of this balls up they have only themselves to blame.

Some interesting reading here (including the links) for those who haven't found this.

Gives an outline of the timeline of the decision making, and the meetings/conversations had in parliament etc.

Interesting they are mostly banging on about injury rates which is just a misinformed, blown out of proportion statistic, greyhounds are pro athletes that get 'injury' stand downs all the time for as little as a few days for minor injuries, 'sand toe' or a skinned pad etc.

And I also read in there somewhere that, basically, one of their main concerns is that they'll never be able to appease the animal activists... 🤢

Looks like the Ex National Track Curator, Jake Bell has his plans sorted. Embarassing behaviour.

See our other post on this - utilise that information including that able to be sourced that the likes of Aaron Cross and Problem Gambling have instigated and counter claim it.

Equally important is the role Women have undertaken in this sector since WW2 and their rights in Society.

By the way, dogs run around in circles quite freely without getting injured, they know instinctively not to overdo it to get dizzy to,  so why the push for Straight Tracks ?

Dogs are also encouraged as part of Behaviour training to walk in a circle and get praised upon completion.

What next, Dog Shows banned because they do tricks and hurdles?

Sheep shows been banned because of there natural abilities?

These activists need to be held to account like they have been doing in the UK and Australia, look it up and follow it up including to Politicians who need a wake up call about legislation.

We all have a right to inclusion in society or it's a breach of Magna Carta.

imo, all participants, their family & friends, suppliers & staff should be emailing, texting , their local mp

pointing out the cost of the proposed ban.

eg: redundancy payments, loss of racing tax, unemployment payments

I see Karen Walsh has sold Thrilling Alfie on behalf of Gary Harding. Ironically a Syndicate called "Till the End" have purchased it. Up until today it had raced 4 times for 3 wins and a placing.

Ironically and sadly it ran into trouble and broke down failing to finish in a 4 dog field 😔

Very sad to see the new sign on the front of the 295 boxes at Addington. I don't believe doing things like this is going to slow up the process all its going to do is add fuel to the fire 🔥 I asked the question a few weeks ago if someone could enlighten me on what the lies have been. Not one person has come back with an answer so are they lies or rumors we now that some of the people in the game is very good at that

from SPCA website,

"SPCA is opposed to the euthanasia of healthy and behaviourally sound companion animals in New Zealand."

and no mention of euthanasia in their Annual Report
