oh dear, I'm sure I'm being picky but I read the TAB comments for tomorrow re the lovely Bella Nipotina. 

"Narrowly prevailed at Randwick last week. Include among the better chances".

She beat the best sprinters in the land and won by  1/2 a length.  Not a bloody nose or a whisker.

Who writes their form?  I'm sure I shouldn't let it annoy me but I hate idiocy.

Worst one is calling some swimmers.

Yoh could use some reverse psychology and just back the ones they don't rate, probably work more times than not.

Be also better in the form comments to talk lengths from winner not Metres.

You mean you havent seen one of Pallisers dozens of posts on this? 

The comments on the runners are computer generated summaries of stats and previous starts.

The PDF form comments are human generated.

If it's any help dear heart, you can look at the NSW TAB site - without having to log in.  Their information is far superior to the NZ TAB.  Hope that helps. 

God knows, any information helps if you'ré trying to back a winner

BULLETS HIGH (9) resumed after finishing unplaced in the QLD Derby with a sharp win over 1400m at Warwick Farm on October 16. Goes just as well second-up and can win again in this stronger contest. 1st up 2 2-0-0. 2nd up 1 0-1-0 

Since when was one placing just as good as 2 from 2 wins?

A few harness "gems" ahead of Kaikoura on Monday.

"Greg Sugars and Jess Tubbs show promise as a combination" & "Greg Sugars and Jess Tubbs demand respect when they team up." Yes, they could possibly win quite a bit once they get their stuff together!! Who knew?

"Zachary Butcher and Purdon & Phelan Purdon deserve respect together."  Who? Purdon, Phelan, Purdon? Is Mark back out at Clevedon? Or is there another brother named Phelan Purdon? I don't remember him from high school. 

"Mark Hurrell(J) usually rides well for the Craig Ferguson stable."  Now where did l put my saddle? A Saddle Trot with the sulky still attached perhaps?

And the best of all, IMO;

"Bob Butt riding for Hayden Cullen & Mark Purdon are a proven combination."  Another looking for a saddle. And how long since the Purdon/Cullen partnership was dissolved? Apart from that, it's not even good English. 

And that's just from the late Quaddie!!!! There were a couple of others in these same 4 races, but one l wasn't 100% sure of factually, and the other might have been taken by some to be in poor taste, so l just selected one per race over the last 4 races. Or two in the case of Jess Tubbs and Greg Sugars.

Can't say I have ever taken notice, but have these "run comments" always been there against each horse?  They appear to be directly linked to the comments which appear on stipes reports for those same races which is handy.

Seems to me the TAB website is providing:

1. Race comments at the top of each race

2. Computer generated blurbs summarising stats and previous starts against each runner

3. Stipes report comments for each runners previous 5 starts

4. PDF form in the exact same format as the old Best Bet

5. They highlight the relevant stats in green ie if a horse is 3rd up they highlight its 3rd up form for easy reference

May as well stick to easybets if all of the above is not enough info to make a selection

I do my own form but solely in NSW and VIC, mainly the latter

Watch trials (critical), interpret the jocks post race comments, study how trainer places his horses (big big indicator), stay well clear of synthetic tracks and load up on inform jockeys on your BB horses. Ignore totally weight and barrier draws, irrelevant for your BB horses that have “sneaked into their race”.

Create a Black Book and be very very patient for the horse to start. The BB is your true form guide. I rarely bet unless the horse is in my BB and don’t care what they are paying as ignore price as I always get overs, sometimes very significant overs.

Best advice is totally ignore print media and social media tipping. They guess.

Not always successful but land some good wins at false odds

Our TAB formguide is laughable and best totally ignored, pure AI driven

Thats right, nothing you can trust more than your own eyes and judgement.  All the opinion blurbs are merely designed to make you part with your cash, and ultimately make you second guess yourself and deviate from your punting strategy

Mr & Mrs AI that do the form seem to have a real thing for comparing 1st up,2nd up, 3rd up etc performance against previous campaigns.

So many variables that affect what might have happened in those runs, it's just BS padding once again.

These comments are just one aspect of so many 'improvements' Entain was going to deliver.

I know there are other sites, and one should do their own form, but these guys are nothing like they campaigned - like most governments I guess

Exactly my point, check out Race 2 at Rangiora, number 1 Moonlites form comments. They are ridiculous. I wonder what anyone new to the racing would think ? .. how do you expect to attract newbies to the sport when Entain provide this crap, the last thing they would expect is click here for this and click here for that, and click backwards and forwards for all horses ffs.

The hi-lighting of course, distance, course & distance stats, track condition, 2nd or 3rd up etc is excellent. Even jockey stats on the particular horse. Harness racing gets some of those stats, but not all of them. I've not seen AW vs Grass track stats yet, nor left-handed vs right-handed track stats.

I simply don’t read the form guide comments, but what a bloody shocker that tripe is. Just ridiculous as you say, just total BS
