Exactly the same place I slipped on Shenely in the Hastings cup around 1982 , Tipped over and slid to the outside rail. We kept racing and I won on Tang latter in the day

I see rotten yellow old grass underneath where the horse slipped.  Chevy your right it's bloody long. Yellow means it's dead.

They surely won't send horses and riders around on it again to test safety? Once a day is enough to put them at risk.

The slip happened 50 meters past the winning post. The next 6 races are all a mile or less so they won't go over that part of the tack until the race is finished and the horses are being pulled up. Will that make much of a difference?

I was surprised to hear Wilcox at Ellerslie say they were cutting their track to raceday length of 120mm. The old rule I heard was "no longer than a cigarette".
