I have lots of Hoof Beats and a few of the others too. But really busy this week and probably won't be able to dig them out until the end of the week.

Assuming you're looking for them to be "donated".

The wife wouldn't know the front of a horse from the back so I'm sure she would be happy to get rid of the boxes out of the cupboard...but the nostalgia will make it a struggle for me🙂

Hoof Beats was an awesome publication...sad magazines like them died.Cant remember the name of the one I would buy when I was a kid just for the posters they had in the middle pages....them were the days when racing was so so different.

The Hoof Beets did have what they called Colour Plates (A4 size) which was a lift out initially but pretty sure later on they stapled them in the middle... Will find out for sure later in the week when I dig out the boxes.

Without even digging out the boxes I can easily remember the 1st one.. April 1972, Far Time and Johnny Harris was on the front cover.

There was an Australian one called Racetrack, or something similar. Used to have centerfolds. I can recall having the centerfold of Century Miss the Slipper winner.

Thanks for that "Mr Cartwright". Would love to be the depository of your unwanted boxes. Happy to donate for your time and effort and, obviously you will need to be compensated for the freight.  Guess we need to "PM" so I can give you a delivery addy and you can provide a bank a/c. Rookie poster so not sure how that works.

Scooby, not sure if it's the same mag but I recall some years ago buying Bloodhorse magazine which was a great read, and it had awesome posters in the middle.  I vividly recall Burletta as one of the posters. Unfortunately unable to hang on to these but someone may have.

I actually found a photo the other week with me and one of the girls from my time at Evergreen , we were holding Ernader , mum of McGinty and her Icelandic colt foal , foal went on to be called Kingston Lane . That brought memories , made me feel bloody old that's for sure .

The old Evergreen...I used to love driving the old trotter with the babies on the back down the long lane to the back of the farm...still remember one day we had a skydiver stuck up the trees in the middle of the farm.

One Pound Sterling was such a cool horse...never really got the recognition he deserved in my opinion...one of the best I ever sat on was by him called Ironclad....trained by my 2nd dad RJ Bothwell

Yeah wasn't that a crack up , Red was the trotter when I got there then when he was not up to it I sourced one from a trainer in Morrinsville , we called Ignatowski after Jim Ignatowski in Taxi , because he was mad fucker , went over the top a couple of times when he lost his front legs .

When I was there a skydiver went through the trees with barely any parachute open , luckily the trees broke her fall and she only smashed her arm up . Fortunately a doctor was driving along highway 27 and seen it happen and drove straight up the drive .

OP was the smartest horse I ever worked with , never gave you any hassle because he didn't want any hassle back . Loved being out in the rain because he was always boxed up in Canada when it was wet or snowing . And I agree , he left some top horses , I've still got a photo of me parading him in a frame on the bookshelf , again I feel old when I see myself back then .

Ya he was a real dude...Mark and Kevin were like polar opposites but the same in so many ways...and their new farm was awesome...hell painted alot of now banned creosote way back then...great memories of fun times...had some wild nights in at the pub in Matamata and still turned up maybe a little worse for wear to work the next morning.

Kevin really loved his racing. I really didn't think I would like the breeding side after being a jockey but it taught me so much about young horses and how to manage them was the best advice Dick ever gave me...he arranged my job there.
