Season ends licensees numbers??

Recommended Posts

Today it's defiantly  over for me I didn't renew my license it will be interesting how many licensees there are in the new season there seems to be nice numbers of younger licensees  coming along , perhaps the future is a little brighter , time will tell . I haven't had a bet for 6 weeks  that's a record , I started betting as a 12/13yold  and had some intense punting as a 18/25 year old, I went to the races to punt and couldn't understand why anyone would go to the races to sit in a bar . Today I would probably be described as a gambling addict but in that period  I  bought my first home with the complements of the TAB, paid cash and didn't have to pay the govt fees attached to buying your first home so after a life time of gambling and racing a few horses it's time to put my feet up and just  have a nibble now and then , happy punting everyone .

Interesting. After 8 reminders and a lot of humming and hawing, I renewed mine in the end but respect your decision TA. Hard to hang up the boots despite the awful context left to continue in but also hard not to.

Sad to hear that, but in all fairness can see where your coming from, I've never had a license, but like yourself be lucky if I've had 2 bets in the last 3 months, lost a bit of interest, easily done these days, wonder how many more think like us at the moment, can't say I brought my house from the tab, that's some sort of effort, well done,

I did manage to buy a car from a treble win back in the good old days, but a house is in another league.

Brilliant stuff W D , trebles back in the day  paid fantastically well basically they were an all up bet and then the bonus was you could usually double that all up bet so 5x5x10=$ 250 x2 $500 it doesn't work that way today anyway it seems we were working along similar lines , trebles bought me my house , biggest collect Morrinsville trots .

Knew one trainer who paid off a large home  loan     in one  bet.   Horse won first up after being kept away from  any trials .  Takes guts and a lot of confidence to  bet like that  as horse only paid about $ 6  . It went on to win nearly a million in stakes. 35 years ago that was  a lot of money.

I have this vague idea  that when Axeman won his debut maiden race by about 10 lengths  he was something like 1/11 in the betting. Te Aroha I think in the early1980s. Our resident expert will know.
