Alf Riston 1,798 Report post Posted June 23 Not sure if anyone else gets brassed off with this?? I love to watch the LPGA, but such a great viewing opportunity is turned into something unwatchable due to the ratio of coverage versus advertising. At one point this morning, over 2 mins in adverts was followed by ONE shot played, before running another 2 mins 30 advert break! And this sport is not alone - disgusting what they serve up. There - got that off my chest now. Does anyone know of any good streaming platforms that offer Golf, or are we bound to the geographical blocks to shut things down to avoid competition? I tend to bet with the heart rather than the head (I think you mentioned betting on ladies is just not sensible ) I have a group of 5 or 6 that I usually throw a few dollars at at long odds, snagging the odd good result, but not many. Fun trying without too much harm to the account Gruff
Friend Family 357 Report post Posted June 24 You guys are brilliant if you can turn a profit on Golf. Iv'e bet on every sport ever played (and some that were never played haha) ....but I sacked them one by one as I got older and wiser and now only bet on 3 sports to enable ME to turn an annual profit. Golf on day 4 only.....or a player to make/miss the cut are the only ways I won on golf ....but there isn't a more relaxing sport to watch late at night .....rivers ....lakes ....crocadiles ...beautiful tree's and other greenery ......informative commentators .....ahhhhhhhhh LOVE watching good golf. I mostly bet on Tournament Winner and Leader after first round FF, but couldn't resist the odds for Amy Yan starting with a 2 shot lead this morning , so emptied the balance (after putting on Shatin Trifectas to make more to put on, a bad move - got nothing ) A nice little account builder at least though The best swing in Golf and a well deserved victory in the end. Interestingly how we moan about adds on our channels but American sport I'd say is the worsed and it is possible sky run adds sometimes as they are being taken in America. It was shown on screen as 'Uninterupted Coverage' for the LPGA Mikie, and sometimes for the Majors it happens....but not this one. Seems like the Sky Muppets make their own minds up and serve us because there's no competition. And the crazy thing is they are' preaching to the converted' as you have to be a subscriber to be watching in any case - just letting us know whats coming up - pleeeze I've had plenty of seeing Razors face, even if I thought that might be 5/8ths interesting
Idolmite 2,792 Report post Posted June 24 A lot of the ad breaks showing Sky NZ promos, are due to the host broadcaster taking ad breaks. Watching the Indycar race this morning the opposite happened. The host broadcaster was ABC, and they took numerous breaks for ads during the course of their coverage. Here in NZ on SkyTV, we got no Sky promos during the ABC breaks. We just got pictures, sometimes from a static camera staring at nothing in particular, with no commentary. We occasionally hear the commentary team talking off-air when they think nobody is listening, whoever was responsible having not bothered to turn off their mics. . I've notice that with Indycar too - also happens on the Golf as well. Must be when it's ABC coverage for that as well. No happy average it seems

Gruff 2,887 Report post Posted June 28 i quite like the look of Gavin Green in Italy, he put some pressure on SSP in INDIA years back and is worthy of big respect and overdue to boot....the other was Jonas Blixt who has looked world class on occasion but recovering from a decent drift to 900 plus in World rankings...the 1000_1 looked ok for a 5 er.....my golf is average like many but some days you can do no wrong ALF WE KNOW you enjoy looking at the fit young lasses on the putting green so lead us into one this week....does Westwood finally win a big one in the SENIORS??????? Alf Riston 1,798 Report post Posted June 28 Can neither confirm nor deny your claims Gruff Can't comment on who can win in the Seniors - I don't bother to follow or watch it - something of a travelling circus for mine. A couple of pairings possibly worth a look at value after R1 (Foursomes) Better Ball tomorrow, so some big moves possible. Ryu / Lee @15's Ko / Hataoka @ 31's Henseleit / Ruffells @ 34's I'm hopeful for equal 1st round leaders Wannasaen / Boonchant to carry on, but a long way to go, as you know...
