Insider 5,094 Report post Posted May 30, 2024 Both are champion blokes. Darryl rode a lot of winners for us over the years. Always a gentleman to boot. We're Doomed 5,790 Report post Posted May 30, 2024 It's a pity we don't get to see Andre on trackside doing interviews like that in a longer format. I'm sure the two of them could have easily filled in a 30 min slot. Insider, mckenzie and Baz (NZ)

He suggested that he should be paid in some way down south for the triple crown for 3yo racing, tongue in cheek, but others saw it differently. Cannot remember the details. arjay 473 Report post Posted June 2, 2024 One thing I really liked from Bradley, his hands were always down on the horses neck when around at the start and so forth, never pulling and running the bit through it's mouth. good hands and a bloody good jock. Had his share of very poor luck to deal with in life as well. Hat's off to you. JJ Flash, Insider and Hedley Jordan 1

Eclipsed 281 Report post Posted June 3, 2024 Recall being in the post race throng in the birdcage at the CJC after Sapio won the 1998 NZ Cup. Here was the winning jockey with a big grin plus a bit of a bruised face. A couple of big pot holes at The Swamp’s car park the night before could have been the cause….others may have their version. Whatever, It was a super impressive win!

Eclipsed 281 Report post Posted June 5, 2024 The Islington Tavern was run by the legendry Dave Morris and after he passed, his son-in-law Sooty. At least 50 photos around the pub's walls of horses they'd raced and won with - and still involved successfully in racing today. Huge huge watering hole and many a story going years back. Terry Brown way back in his younger days got into a massive fight and was winning until his opponent's brother stepped in and dealt to him. The police involved subsequently and played intermediary -placating deals were done! Terry built his empire well after the Swamp stoush. https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/10665175/Former-sex-kingpin-looks-to-get-back-in-business The Swamp - a popular out of the way boozer that is no more...... Didn't realize it was no more, was many a time ago I worked not to far away, was a great ole pub with a good atmosphere and the place to go, but alas many watering holes that were popular back in the day, have fallen into the same predicament, what's on the site these days, thanks for the update.
