Appeal – Written Reserved Decision dated 22 May 2024 – Nigel McGrath- Appeal dismissed

For those who are interested the full decision is posted on RIB website explaining why. It outlines reasons for appealing his 8 year disqualification , those who supported his appeal and those who were against it. Fascinating stuff

Thanks for posting that Idolmite.

The most telling line was the last line ......'You can re-apply in 12mths' .....that usually means 'green light next time' so N R McGrath will be back in action next year which is good as he has undoubted ability and just wandered off the beaten track.

Taking short cuts seems good at the time but never pays off......so hopefully he has learned his lesson and the Blue with the White Star will be back big time next year.

The 12 months would have been mentioned as you can only appeal every 12 months.Hope he gets himself sorted as talented but trouble seems to follow him. Some of his choice of staff hasnt helped.

He's been in strife more than once, no place in the sport for these people full stop. You know the saying a repeat offender and a leopard never changes its spots.

Interesting to read that rival trainer Robert Dunn wrote in support to get Nigel back early….

Apparently so. R Dunn's record in terms of past issues with officialdom? FFS the guy is on the HRNZ board, what on earth was he thinking just as the same question could and was be asked Of Spicer when he wanted McGrath back in.. Absolute nonsense which RIB saw through in  appeals in both cases. JMT
