Can't beat the cash in the bank, not easy to win races over there, you'll be able watch on with interest.

Dont forget the costs to have one in work over there. Mate has a small share in one with Sydney trainer , latest bill worked out at A$ 16000 for the month

So they added a meeting at Riccarton on Wednesday when they already have one there on Thursday , a bit bizarre , why not just incorporate more races onto Thursdays program .

They now have an open 1200 on Wed , then an open 1400 on Thurs .

Two small fields coming up or one deleted for lack of numbers .

Make one 1300 and another 1600 , open up the options .

I swear they must run on a very narrow single rail track of thinking .

Mick on Monday: Warren Kennedy laments wasted opportunity at abandoned Timaru meeting - NZ Herald

From Warren Kennedy:

“But I can’t argue with the decision. I went out and inspected the track, and there was a very significant slip mark and smaller slips around it.

“The track was actually very firm underneath, about 2cm down, but with a little rain this morning [Sunday] and the fog, the top got soft but the underneath didn’t get that moisture, so it created a slippery surface.

“It was the right decision, even though it makes for a wasted day.”

I can understand why some may be dubious about Entain in general, but linking Cameron George to a Timaru cancellation is drawing a long bow isnt it?  Would expect to see Sharrock in the firing line well before Camerons name.  Where is he in all of this!?

Sorry Pak Star.. I meant Cameron Rodger cheers

So 6 races Wednesday and 7 on Thursday , why ? why not run them all on one day and make life simpler for people .

Races deleted due to insufficient numbers , blah , blah , blah .

They could make digging a hole look like brain surgery .

You know why as that would take an amount of commonsense...something they are surely lacking.

What it shows is that a lot of those horses who missed out at Timaru (and remember there were balloted and eliminated horses there as well) were there because they wanted to race on a grass track.

But cant use the precious Riccarton  grass as it has a meeting in two weeks but force Puke to race whenever needed because of the Ellerslie cock up...what a farking joke things have become.

The incredible thing is the extent to which they get away with it without complaint. Other than 7 or 8 people on a couple of these racing forums, who are probably seem as stirrers anyhow, no one else in the industry seems to see any problem.

You may have meant Cameron Rodger but I think you were right in the first place Palliser.  Entain is not responsible for track infrastructure, maintenance, replacement, repair etc. They supply the money to NZTR but how it is used sits totally with NZTR. Cameron George is the chair of the NZTR board, so as far as responsibility for tracks and abandonments is concerned, then the buck stops with him imo.

I would love to know why they couldn’t have had the new race meeting at Ashburton, no races there until 4th July?

Ashburton gets hammered, and they only have the one grass track.    i.e.  the course proper gets used for track gallops, trials and raceday.

They do a pretty good job with very limited resources and I suspect a period of 'down time' was well needed to do some work on it.

I am a bit in the dark as to why the Riccarton turf couldn't have been used?

And why does everyone not see the common denominator in the Auckland region ?

Ten years screwing the Ellerslie track, then loaned to Avondale for a year ( 3 out of 4 meetings cancelled), then back to Auckland and 50 million disaster.   🤨
