It is almost impossible to avoid Northern Dancer in a pedigree, there probably is not a modern sire out there without ND in his pedigree. How much ND would be considered too much? I have seen horses with up to 10 strains of ND within their 7 generation pedigree.

Assistant Trainer/Foreman Due to unfortunate circumstances Highview require a Foreman/Assistant trainer for an immediate start. The applicant must be also be a senior track rider with excellent organistional /management skill and be wiling to assist in the pre-training, training and breaking in, at a private long standing horse stud and racing stable on the outskirts of Hamilton. Ability to work unsupervised in a team environment, manage staff, keep excellent records and communicate with farriers, vets, clients and management essential. A senior level rider with high standards is essential. 7am start and every alternate weekend off. Accommodation and excellent remuneration and bonuses to the successful applicant. Yearling Staff 2016 Experienced, self motivated, enthusiastic staff required from October to February 2016, assisting in the education and preparation of yearlings for the NZB National sales late January 2017. Applicants must be prepared to work every alternate weekend (reduced hours, just feed up, treatments etc) and possibly attend yearling sales in Auckland. New to the forum with a question, so please grant me a little patience. If you decide not to breed your broodmare this season for financial or other reasons, is there a facility/forum where you can register your broodmare; where someone else could negotiate with you to breed your broodmare for the season? Or is this fraught with too many difficulties; in terms of responsibility, care and other issues for it to be a realistic scenario?

Got an email for the annual ripoff a few days ago. $110 to register your mare & foal with the studbook or $70 per mare. How in today's world of technology is this still relevant, surely it is time this was made a small token payment whereby the entering of studbook details can be done via the breeders portal on the site(and updated from there)? Where is the $70 worth of value in entering a mare in the studbook? If we have an organisation that has a cost structure whereby it's costing $70 to enter a horse in the studbook then we are totally F##k#$!

Just seeking others' opinion. I have a 5 year old Falkirk mare that won a 1000m trial but was found wanting over 1200m. On scoping she was classified as having a grade 4 paresis. Her dam (imported form USA) did not race but her 3 siblings have won in NZ, Japan and France. She is a good natured, big, roomy mare sound in the legs. Would you breed from her or is there a risk of passing on the wind problem? Thanks for your input.
