What happens when a trainer takes 8 dogs to the races and has a shocking day. All 8 unplaced.

How does that trainer then payout his owners the petrol vouchers when he is restricted on the first 5.?

I credit vouchers as a payment from the owner. So it comes off their bill.

    I've only the one dog.
but what happens if I 8 and have the shocker?

Divide the vouchers amongst the owners. ?

Remember this initiative is for the owners.

why should some miss out ?

They have their place. But better thinking towards their use and distribution is needed in my opinion.

Shaky,  The trainers that come on here that obviously do not care about their dogs welfare because they do not rush off to a hose immediately after a race include your boss who didn't appear to be worrying about the same  when Brando won the collar.

But in the heats they aren't on the dias for 15 minutes with the big presentation.

    Of course they needed it.

Officials were present for the hose down so no integrity issue there.

Johhnybooy or should we say Hayden....Do you enjoy making stories up ? where did you hear the trainer talked the stipes out of charging the dog ? The trainer appealed the charge so the dog was  charged and the trainer won  at a jca hearing , and yankiwi you are as bad as the same stipe that charged the dog at Auckland was the same stipe that  charged him at Wanganui ........but it's always  the same thing with you two....don't let a good story get in front of the truth.....Don't know about yankiwi but for you johnnybooy there is a pill called prosac  you should get some .

Yes, sometimes you get drawn into a race with a dodgy dog. So pull yours out? 28 day stand-down maybe, take it if your that concerned.

Deb knew that the dog may be a bit shady on occasions, so she, as a trainer, took the dog under her wing to see if her training style rectified any issues.

Unfortunately on this occasion it did not.

There was only one way to find out.
She could have trialled with another dog, wouldn't have done a thing, as he is a sub 30 dog at Wanganui over the 520m.
Not many people are lucky enough to have them.

It is a lot different in a field where he has more dogs in front of him, meaning he is more likely to get distracted.

Whoknows, you must be luck to never have been associated with a dog that is questionable.
Finally retiring, jeepers, id love deb or the syndicate to ask me if id like a go, because imagine if someone got his mind on the job, what a great greyhound he will be. Why give up on a dog with this ability.

Well done Deb, you gave it your best shot, and have made a decision im sure Lynx will enjoy, a nice roomy couch.

14 noms for a group one distance ( yes 14 noms ) and what does our racing committee say no heats it is a straight final ...gezz  we have last years top stayer as reserve ( little teegan )  we have 6 dogs that won't get a chance to prepare for the silver collar , but hey guess what ? we have ten sprint races on the card with a lot of the racing committee's  dogs in these races . I think if we had asked  the racing board what they think they would say run the two group one heats ( did anyone in greyhound racing committee ask this??? ) it's okay I have the answer from one of them ( racing board ) and no they were not asked . my big question who on the board made this decision ?????I believe our lp rep had a major part in this decision is that as lp's what  we really want ?? and should our lp rep be on any committee or should he be independent and working for us as we voted him in , Shame on you Grahame if it was you that made this call , you work for us not the board .

From what I hear, we have criteria GRNZ have to meet to get their % of total turn over but should this effect group 1 races?  Lucky there is no sponsor for this race at it would be a disgrace!!  But what about owners/punters and trainers??  it has been proven that distance far exceeds any other race in turn over.  There are very few races that a distance dog can prepare for in a season and this reduces their opportunities even further.  These heats are a build up to Silver Collar.  Up and coming dogs ... trainers need to know if they are worthy but some will never know after this extremely poor decision.  How can Clubs control their destinies when decisions are taken away from them.  So as a result of this pathetic decision, Wanganui have 10 sprints and 2 middle distance.... Yeh.  How exciting.  The owners of their distance dogs will have to wait until June ... for goodness sake.  How is this looking after our industry.

Standing back and watching how our industry is progressing, I would have to say (although it sounds like a conspiracy) that someone at the top (ie GRNZ) is working for the animal activists.  What a clever way to infiltrate our industry and destroy it from within.  As this is how it appears.  In my opinion of course.

This has been asked many times, but never united.  Time for our board to stand down and start again.  We will never go forward when no one in control is even qualified to run an industry of this magnitude.  Pay Peanuts get Monkey's.

Whether you realise it or not, too many of us are effected by those in control who are not qualified to make these decisions.  Again, this is my opinion but I will stand by it.

Putting your personal issues aside with the kennel Yankiwi, don't you think you would do the same thing if you were in that situation? The trainer is doing the right thing by the dogs owner and trying to win races, as all owners want to do. If the dog shouldn't be running then that's obviously a fault of NZGRA and their amateur systems for letting that happen. I think HoundFan must be on the money with his answer, but it does set a precedence for the future.

Actually Greg, I was informed yesterday afternoon from the Riu that the kibble had returned positive to morphine and that they where scratching my dogs from today.
I don't see why our dogs should be scratched when we are not the only ones that feed this kibble. The positives date back over 2 months now, all the trainers involved with the positives have been swabbed since with no more positive results. I can not see the justification in penalising us again. I have been using the product for at least a couple of years. I feel your inference of some other contamination in light of this result is quite unjustified. The kibble has been brought over different periods of time through two seperate retailers. Have you thought that maybe the manafacturers may have received a contaminated product ie wheat that inadvertently may have wild poppy seeds, maybe it is just the one batch, which would seem the most likely. If  every dog that has raced recently was swabbed maybe some other kennels may have been in this boat also. As I said not all of my swabs have been positive so may be some dogs have different excretion times than others. I thought this was the best result having the biscuits proven to contain morphine. At least I could save mine, Tracy's, Alysha and Arch's reputation as being honest as it is all you have in this game sometimes. Its obvious though that this is going to be just as stressfull and ongoing for a while yet. At this stage we may not even be allowed to race this week either. At least I can now see who my real friends are.

Must have Travelled alright this time round.

    Well done Matt and team.

Could the difference be night racing.?

At home for longer. Less stress when change in routine ie waking up earlier for travel.?

You come on here and tell everyone all your dogs are going to clean up and win everything and then expect sympathy when things go wrong? Would you like me to get my wee violin out?
Like I said before, if you just let your dogs do the talking people might be a bit more congratulatory towards you when you get success, nobody likes a loudmouth.

It wasn't the riu that asked for he kibble to be tested.

Dad requested it as it was the only common factor between the 3 kennels.
