  1. I was spoken to regarding this in race 10 by the starter and reminded to be a bit quicker next time. I'm trying to get my dog to set nicely to give them the best opportunity possible to earn a stake for my kennels. (Not something I have been told to do by my employer ) I will make sure I am quicker to box, for your satisfaction whoknows. It's something I don't purposely do, trying to give myself an advantage. But to have my dog set and ready to jump when the lids open. Feel free to give me any pointers after watching my next few performances Regards Corey Steele
  2. Thank you all for enquiries. After a strenuous couple of days. I will reply to all within the next 24 hours with information needed and requested. Cheers Corey
  3. Some greyhounds have been given their eviction notice from racing in the South due to loss of form. Ranging from 2.5 years through to 3.5 years old Price ranging from $1000 - $2000 Some will suit racing in the C.D and some the north. Mainly sprinters Enquires through Corey 021-174-7593 (Please leave voicemail messages if unanswered) greatgreyhoundz@gmail.com
  4. Just for arguments sake. We will only use winners getting swab bed not random ones or performance related. If they swab 7 winners a meeting. 12 races. 58 % of the winners are swabbed 4 wins out of 7 is 57% ratio. Which I think is fair. I don't see them targeting you Gary or Wendy. Just the way it is. Maybe if the little girl stopped winning then you won't be swabbed. She's doing great. So just enjoy the success and don't worry bout the little things.
  5. It wasn't the first dog past the post. So therfore hasn't technically won. But gains the winners cheque. The dog wasn't disqualified for a few weeks after. So what happens to prize money earned since then. Would private action have to give it all back because it's been running in maidens illegally. It's the same as a dead heat. You can't go up a grade.
  6. What else would you like in the magazine MM I think we need more articles like back when the magazine was the size of an a4 sheet of paper and there were always write ups. Seems the only write ups with trainer comments after feature races are on our website.
  7. I think it's .06 per length
  8. Thank you for all enquiries. This greyhound has now been sold pending payment.
  9. Tennessee Smile for sale. Open to offers Please direct enquiries to : Corey 021-174-7593 greatgreyhoundz@gmail.com
  10. Be What happens when a trainer takes 8 dogs to the races and has a shocking day. All 8 unplaced. How does that trainer then payout his owners the petrol vouchers when he is restricted on the first 5.? I credit vouchers as a payment from the owner. So it comes off their bill. I've only the one dog. but what happens if I 8 and have the shocker? Divide the vouchers amongst the owners. ? Remember this initiative is for the owners. why should some miss out ? They have their place. But better thinking towards their use and distribution is needed in my opinion.
  11. But in the heats they aren't on the dias for 15 minutes with the big presentation. Of course they needed it. Officials were present for the hose down so no integrity issue there.
  12. On the dogs website, there is an article. Sweet it is, coming over on Wednesday and Trainer and dog being based at K. Walsh's property.

Jake. You get 1440 for winning a c5 sprint and 2100 for winning a c5 middle distance.
  14. The dog is rightfully allowed to start. As was peacock princess when she arrived in new Zealand.
  15. Yes, sometimes you get drawn into a race with a dodgy dog. So pull yours out? 28 day stand-down maybe, take it if your that concerned. Deb knew that the dog may be a bit shady on occasions, so she, as a trainer, took the dog under her wing to see if her training style rectified any issues. Unfortunately on this occasion it did not. There was only one way to find out. She could have trialled with another dog, wouldn't have done a thing, as he is a sub 30 dog at Wanganui over the 520m. Not many people are lucky enough to have them. It is a lot different in a field where he has more dogs in front of him, meaning he is more likely to get distracted. Whoknows, you must be luck to never have been associated with a dog that is questionable. Finally retiring, jeepers, id love deb or the syndicate to ask me if id like a go, because imagine if someone got his mind on the job, what a great greyhound he will be. Why give up on a dog with this ability. Well done Deb, you gave it your best shot, and have made a decision im sure Lynx will enjoy, a nice roomy couch.
  16. The last time it occurred the stipes reminded the starter if his obligations. Yet didn't reprimand him on this occasion. Didn't see the race so can't comment on it. Just speaking from previous case
  17. Invitations are an open nomination. It is then selected by a panel I believe. I'm sure you'll see a difference when the Angus wright memorial takes place. More stake money in offer. The different trainers will probably nominate. Only 6 k stake tonight so obviously no southern visitors
  18. Must have Travelled alright this time round. Well done Matt and team. Could the difference be night racing.? At home for longer. Less stress when change in routine ie waking up earlier for travel.?
  19. I do think stylish fancy at $41 is value.
  20. It wasn't the riu that asked for he kibble to be tested. Dad requested it as it was the only common factor between the 3 kennels.
  21. Just to clarify. This is my account. Dad only posted once using this account as he doesn't have a racecafe username and wanted to say one thing. Regards Corey Steele
  22. Sorry Scooby. The last bit was meant to be deleted as I couldn't word it right. By products I was going to mention. Vitamins. Biscuits above all produced by companies solely for the Consumption of a racing greyhound. So wouldn't you expect them to be clear of any prohibited substances as they would have knowledge of such .? Yes. It's our responsibility to take these dogs to the races free if prohibited substances. But the only time you really question the products your feeding your dog is when a positive swab comes back. I for one can't afford to get every product I give my 2 greyhounds tested. But should trust that the products provided manufactured for the sole consumption of the racing greyhound it should fit in with all drug rules our association and Australia have in place.
  23. I do believe (as I've been informed) that the difference maybe for the horses (as I know it is thus way for greyhounds Australasia ) is levels of substances in the greyhound. We test for traces. Not the amounts in the system. Which plays the biggest part of the number of positive swabs in new Zealand. Minor traces don't have an effect on a dogs performance. But our system shows its their. The prohibited substance isn't of an amount to increase or decrease performance but enough to show its in the dogs system That is what we get penalties for. Traces. Not levels. (All as I've been told by trustworthy source)
  24. Johnnybooy, No one expects or even suspects there to be prohibited substances in a kibble formulated solely for the racing greyhound. Would you? Are you not glad that this has been picked up on the cause of the recent positives so other trainers can be aware when using it in the future? Everyone blaming someone or something? Well I don't think the trainers that have been found with the positives are purposely giving their dogs a prohibited substance, so no excuses, just reasons. two different words, two different meanings, What I worry, as a trainer myself, with your statements, is do we as trainers have to test every single product we provide our dogs?
  25. Actually Greg, I was informed yesterday afternoon from the Riu that the kibble had returned positive to morphine and that they where scratching my dogs from today. I don't see why our dogs should be scratched when we are not the only ones that feed this kibble. The positives date back over 2 months now, all the trainers involved with the positives have been swabbed since with no more positive results. I can not see the justification in penalising us again. I have been using the product for at least a couple of years. I feel your inference of some other contamination in light of this result is quite unjustified. The kibble has been brought over different periods of time through two seperate retailers. Have you thought that maybe the manafacturers may have received a contaminated product ie wheat that inadvertently may have wild poppy seeds, maybe it is just the one batch, which would seem the most likely. If every dog that has raced recently was swabbed maybe some other kennels may have been in this boat also. As I said not all of my swabs have been positive so may be some dogs have different excretion times than others. I thought this was the best result having the biscuits proven to contain morphine. At least I could save mine, Tracy's, Alysha and Arch's reputation as being honest as it is all you have in this game sometimes. Its obvious though that this is going to be just as stressfull and ongoing for a while yet. At this stage we may not even be allowed to race this week either. At least I can now see who my real friends are. Wayne Steele
