As usual Oz racing shows us the way, if only we weren't too damn stubborn to follow.
Ever noticed how swiftly they show an official photo-finish on TV over there - often within seconds of horses flashing across the line...
we don't need to hear the official judges call on TV, just some nous from Trackside presenters eg concentrating on getting placegetters' saddlecloth numbers communicated to us verbally and on-screen as swiftly and clearly as possible.

Chevy86 I hope you watched Carole...far more entertaining, less mumbly stumbly analysts, more musical/joyful and more educational. I for one love learning the back stories to the 'songs of my yoof'

What achievements, promising to have conversations surely isn't any achievement. The backflips from Ardern should be making her giddy.
Election promises are now being classed as aspirations.
Before the election she was stating she would eliminate poverty now it is reduce it by 50%. Which 50% of kids are going to miss out and who's going to tell them. 
100,000 affordable homes to be built in ten years.  That's 833 a month, How many have been built to date.
1 billion trees, again how many have been planted.
The hue and cry of the Manus Island country jumpers (they are not refugees) was simply appalling.

Now charter schools who have produced amazing results are to be shut down. That's really looking after the kids isn't it. Truly inspirational  
When is she actually going to do some work as the Prime Minister instead of cruising children schools and old folks homes, engaging in photo shoots and taking her boyfriend everywhere with her. Who gives a fark about what she is wearing and  all the baby talk. The weak as piss press and commentators are nothing more than obsequious fawning lapdogs 
As Prime Minister she should be running the country not running around going to non-threating events where she is not held to account nor tough questions put to her and pandering to snowflakes. It's about time she fronted up and did her real job. She is avoiding that.

I have nothing against the horse. only the way he has been constantly talked up by AS ...denied a 'Triple Crown' at Hastings as I recall, and the comments last week about how his opponents In the Dyke Stakes were in "deep, deep trouble" is typical of his approach.  Kawi has found many ways to get himself beaten over the last two years...and it's always someone else's fault according to his trainer

From my observations over time, AS's conduct has at times lacked grace - as a winner and as a loser.  But we all have different characters and it's up to him how he conducts himself. This is only my opinion and it would be a boring world if we were all the same.
Looking at it from the point of view of Trackside/TAB - they will seek him out for an interview every time - and were probably rapt when JKB took the same bullish line when interviewed by Emily Bosson after his win on Dijon Bleu (comments like Kawi was the best horse in the race, he'd ride him like the best horse in the race adn he'd win).  People like AS not only polarise people and get them talking - their audacious, super confident interviews doubtless spark signficant betting activity (far more than the understated types who tell us their horse is very good, and is well but will need luck and anything can happen on the day etc etc). 
And I think we'd be naive to think that Trackside is just an entertainment programme with no other purpose/motivation.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but prior to todays race SW was unbeaten at Te Rapa and Kawi hadn't won there.
Why nearly everyone thinks Kawi is unbeatable is beyond me... a fine horse and a great list of Gp 1s etc etc but Winx he ain't. No doubt Riddell will be slated for missing the jump on him but Kawi is a known rogue at the start and his own worst enemy. The words of Allan Sharrock quoted in the papers last week ring in my ears: "his opponents are in deep, deep trouble". When will AS learn to 'zip it' over Kawi's chances in a race?

on Monday morning, John Allen and the senior management team will have a meeting. After reading this thread they will say that about a dozen customers were not happy with our effort on Saturday. That is a very small minority of our 650,000 or so customers so we are doing a pretty good job - pats on back all round

Credit is due to Te Rapa.  Most other tracks with this much rain would have not gone ahead.

Had a good laugh at the indignant Chestnut telling off all the 'gang' and correcting someone's spelling of 'grammer'...problem for Chestnut is that she spoke of everything being posted 'on mass' LOL 'en masse' .
And I've only gone through this post of mine four times before 'sending' in case I made a spelling mistook !!

John Messara's take on NZ racing in the Informant is on the money, by a man that knows. Love him or hate him, he's been ever so successful in the thoroughbred industry and he should be listened to. Will the people with the say do that? I very much doubt it, that's the reason we are in such a pickle, pride, ego's and self interest, oh how I wish I was wrong, if only that Peters guy grew a pair, showed us all he was an honest man....and did just as John suggested.....we could have a wonderful rich industry here, it's just sitting there, like a ripe apple, just waiting to be picked..........

Cheers mate was extra special with the loss of a good friend on Sunday due to the effects of depression .  Racing has a way of dealing  cards your way when you need them .

Siblings running 1st and 2nd in a race at Wingatui today (Macy, Bakela) ...half-sister/brother but still unusual.
Can anyone remember the last time this happened or how often it happens...?
