  1. personally I don't give a shite about a sectional in training. Sectionals in real races is different. While I have a good deal of respect for MJ on past performance, it is ludicrous to contend that she picks up "where Winx left off" ..silly silly remark CT, give yourself a left hook ...if MJ wins six in a row in the spring you might think about comparing her to ... a lot of good horses, but not Winx. Get real, mate ... as mentioned once before, you have a tendency to imagine or hope for things before they are real ...everyone wants another Winx ...but chances are MJ is just an extremely good 3yo who has a lot to do to walk among the true champions of the turf.
  2. good point, but I can assure you that normal transmission will resume on 31 August
  3. the cone is an indication (only) to the jocks that the finish line is looming large. he camera is at the end of the painted red line.
  4. From a 'business brain' point of view, perhaps ...but does he have the political nous yet? Even SirJohn had to serve some time on the backbenches to learn 'due process' of how gummit works. Key know how to connect with 'the common man/woman' too, even if it meant being a dawk at times. I'm surprised we haven't actually got a viable Tory Party in NZ - Colin Craig really blew a great opportunity there, but that doesn't mean someone else won't have a go and I'm surprised no-one has tried in the last year or so. NZ First wont survive (for long) without Winston and ACT is largely irrelevant ...
  5. any gummit the contains the incompetence of Lees-Galloway, Curran and Jackson, W should be a one-term gummit ...Taxinda is very quiet now because the honeymoon is well and truly over ...her strategists will no doubt hope the Vogue cover and an eventual (pre-election) wedding ceremony for maximum publicity effect will be enough to sneak in for a second term...and it might, given the inability of the Nats to organise any kind of LRP (Leader Replacement Programme). NZ politicians are all missing the one ingredient they real need - credibility. I cannot think of one senior politician I'd like to vote for as Prime Minister. Crusher is compromised by her past; so is Winston; Bridges is intelligent but devoid of leadership skills and gravitas. As a complete aside, I wonder how long it will be before the Orientals form a NZ Chinese Party and assert real influence over Auckland council and central government here? The numbers must be there already (or imminent); Interesting times in Godzone.
  6. Cheers mate ...made a bob or two ... needed every metre of that long Pukekohe straight and went through the line like a good stayer in the making ...wonder if they have a Derby in mind for him?
  7. Rising Ransom ... 2nd up today ...3yo gelding, (Ekraar-Gem Lover) three-quarter brother to Rising Romance ... finished well for 5th over 1200m first up and up in trip to 1400m. I have no 'inside info' about him, but I liked the way he finished off that first start ...this is right-handed and he's just learning. Should be even better when going further ... opened at $10 out to $12 on FF Good value imo
  8. nothing wrong at all BH ...actors, musicians, artists, sportspeople of all descriptions have managers..why shouldn't jockeys?
  9. i fear BH you have missed the transition into the world of 21st century business
  10. very good incentive Well done, whoever thought of it I guess the only entrants will be people with losing $50 bets (the winning tickets will be redeemed!)
  11. never met him but heard lovely things about him and tributes on Trackside Radio today ...Loved how his horses all had to have 7 letters cos Phar Lap had 7 ! Condolences to family and friends
  12. If the complainant(s) want the party to be held to account, someone needs to lay a complaint with the police, otherwise this will be swept under the carpet - and justifiably so. If there are allegations of serious crime eg rape, it is a matter for the police.
  13. Brendan Drechsler Hurdle winner Gobstopper ($4.80) was one of four horses who failed to complete the course and jockey Emily Farr said she felt compelled to pull him up after hearing him make an unusual noise following some mid-race interference. He was noted to have suffered from an arrhythmia.
  14. i reckon you mean sado-masochistic TN ...them nerds ain't doing it to hurt themselves...we're the ones feelin' the pain on a daily basis LOL
  15. my hopes were with Gobstopper ...I see 'heart fibrillation' reported in the post-race report....he appeared to cop some nasty interference leaving the straight with a lap to go and never looked right after that. Goodbye to a few multis and a win bet. Never mind. Good to see the Kiwis win it again. Mr Myers sure knows how to prepare these jumpers.
  16. Great news bringing back great memories ...I was in the Hill Stand that November afternoon in 1992, freezing my buns off as Melourne turned on one of its classic 10-degree days and the grey with the right name for the occasion won the big race.
  17. a typically graceless, provocative insulting remark ..Mandela made amends for his poor performance last time ..why couldn't you simply say something nice (or nothing at all)?
  18. I thought Mandela showed an impressive turn of foot to reel them in from well back, but didn't run away and hide ...early days for him though and connections will be glad they didn't take the Kembla Grange option. As a complete aside, Mandela earned more for his debut victory than Dez did for winning the Winter Cup.
  19. surprised they appear to have overlooked the 1100m maiden on Monday at Forbes...LOL The truly sad thing here is that the lowly Monday maiden at Forbes ($38k) is worth more than the highest rated race at Te Rapa tomorrow (Open 1200m $35k) ...and the buffoons running the show here have scheduled it for the 3rd on the card ...sigh.
  20. think I'll back the only other runner
  21. i think he actually meant Pursued. LOL. Another very honest run on a testing track. Wonder if it could be a jumper? Deluxe Edition also very tough horse.Made plenty of ground for 4th, third run in a week.
  22. If DE starts it'll be 3 races in a week or so..tough ask...
  23. Interesting career this horse. Speedy Australian bred (Manhattan Rain-Estelle Collection) but descends from same family as Empire Rose, Grosvenor etc Wins its first three as a 2yo incl 1200m Listed Ryder Stakes, then btn 1/2 hd in the Wanganui Guineas (by Highlad). Goes to Melbourne, runs last of 11 in the $200,000 Stutt Stakes, spring 2016. Has won only one other race since then - a R75 in May 2018 at Awapuni. 3rd today over fences at Awapuni.
  24. yep..and as often happens in small fields the two roughest run 1,2 ... I'll stick with Lupelani for one more anyway.
